Initially, Absinthe should be opened at Fontainebleau Resort Las Vegas. The Fountainebleau is closed and Caesars Palace allows producers to set up temporary tents at Roman Plaza. In 90 days of the show, after inspection by Las Vegas Fire & amp; Saving, organizers are told to close production. Due to the success of the event in 90 days, Gary Selesner, president of Caesars Palace, purchased Spiegeltent that met the German fire code standard and installed it on the site to replace the original tent.
The show was directed by Wayne Harrison with original choreography by Lucas Newland. It is manufactured by Ross Mollison and is owned by Spiegelworld.
At the end of the 1000th show at Caesars Palace, the actor of Absinthe is celebrated by dressing up as a zombie. In April, 2014, Absinthe celebrates its 1,500th show. The show will continue until 2016 at Caesar's Palace.

There are three recurring roles in Absinthe : the Gazillionaire, Penny Pibbets and Green Fairy. The Gazillionaire is a "rotten snake oil seller... with bad teeth, bad suits, shiny sparkling shiny shoes." A comedian, he is the host. He made a joke at the expense of the audience and introduced the players. The character Penny Pibbets, assistant of the Gazillionaire and performed by Anais Thomassian, performs a routine with a sock puppet that by journalist Robin Leach is described as "more than XXX-rated - not a single word can be written here, it's indecent!" Candy is the personification of the green fairy. She's wearing a green costume and singing as she performs teasing style burlesque strips. An additional character, Maxim, who is the head waiter of The Gazillionaire, did a balancing seat at the opening ceremony.
