The Hallo-Wiener is a children's book by Dav Pilkey. The main character of the story is Oscar the Dachshund named after Oscar Mayer. It was published in 1995.

Plot

The story begins with Oscar, a half-dog dachshund and one-and-a-half dogs long, and tired with other dogs making fun of him for his fragrant body. She is happy because it is Halloween, and she can not wait to get the costume. At obedience school, she dreams of Halloween. When he came home from school his mother had a surprise for him: hot dog bread with mustard in the middle and Oscar should fit in the middle. She thought she would be laughed at, but wearing the costume, because she did not want to hurt her mother's feelings. He saw other dogs show off their costumes and when they saw their Oscar costumes howling laughter.

Oscar costume is so heavy that it makes it slow down. Meanwhile, the dogs get their claws on all the sweets and when Oscar comes to the houses no more food is left. The dogs go to the cemetery and they hear the sounds, scream very loudly and run, dive into the river because they see a frightening monster. When Oscar came to see the monster, he saw something strange. He bit the monster cover, pulled it with all his might, and found two cats hiding underneath. The cats screamed and ran. Then Oscar jumps into the water and uses his costume as a life raft, and saves the other dogs. The dogs thanked the Oscar by sharing their candy with him. They became friends forever and Oscar was never made happy again, because he came to be known as the "Sandwich Hero".
