Valleyfair is a 125-hectare amusement park (51 acres) in Shakopee, Minnesota, United States. Owned by Cedar Fair, the park opened in 1976 and now has over 75 rides and attractions including eight roller coasters. Valleyfair also has a water park called Soak City which is included in the price of admission. Cedar Point and Valleyfair are the first two parks in the Cedar Fair chain (although Cedar Point Amusement Park originally opened in 1870) and a combination of park names - "cedar" and "fair" - are used for company names.

Histori

Valleyfair opened in 1976 featuring 20 rides and attractions on 26 acres (110,000 m 2 ), with High Roller roller coasters being the main attraction. The carousel in the park came from the Excelsior Amusement Park which closed in 1973. This is the oldest ride in the park. In 1978 in an effort to increase investment capital for continued park expansion, Valleyfair was acquired by Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio and placed under the management of Cedar Fair Limited Partnership. The park continues to grow every year with new rides and attractions. Since 1976, Valleyfair has invested more than $ 96 million into the park, and today the park has more than 75 attractions on a 125 acre (51Ã, ha) plot. The high restriction was imposed in 2000 with the construction of the Tower of Power. After negotiating with the FAA and nearby Flying Cloud Airports, the FAA limits the height of the Power Tower building at 275 feet (84 m) due to its proximity to the airport. The initial plan of the Power Tower is a height of 300 feet (91 m) and to drive up to 275 feet (84 m).

Since the park is located on the banks of the Minnesota River, flooding can be a problem during the spring before the park is usually opened (or when the park is open for this season), especially in 1988, 1993, 1997 and 2014. Excalibur and Thunder Canyon are built outside the river dike which has been there before, and was built taking into account the potential for this flood.

Show

Valleyfair hosts several venues with a variety of live entertainment at no additional cost.

  • Amphitheater is a great open space that hosts country music, band competition, acrobats and even dog shows. In 2016, Amphitheater was renovated and began hosting a new event, All Wheel's Extreme.
  • The Galaxy Theater is an indoor theater, air-conditioned, equipped with professional lighting and sound. Initially, it was used to stage music revues, but in recent years, the Galaxy has played host to various comedy and magic acts, such as Ed Alonzo and Chipper Lowell.
  • The Gazebo Stage is an open stage with a covered stage that features classical and contemporary hits. The Gazebo features a 7-piece live band (keyboard, bass, guitar, drum, trombone, saxophone and trumpet), separate settings for most other "tracked" theme park events. This place has many covered picnic tables and is close to many food service locations, so garden guests can enjoy their lunch or dinner while watching the show.
  • Benchwarmers are a brass band wandering the streets of the park and playing many classic songs as well as some contemporary music. Several songs from previous years have been, "Thriller", "Sexyback", and "Sweet Caroline".
  • PEANUTS Showplace is an open spot located next to PEANUTS Playhouse on Planet Snoopy. It features a stadium bench bench, with awnings to provide shade, and plenty of room for interactive entertainment.
  • The Acafellas is an all-male a cappella group that includes many hit songs.

At Halloween Haunt, there's a special themed show on the PEANUTS Showplace, featuring Halloween and spooky themed songs for a trick-or-treater at the nearby Trick-or-Treat Trail. The last few years in the Gazebo there has been a show called Haunted Homecoming. On the path, there are cappella groups hanging around (like The Acafellas), called The Skele-Tones. In the evenings, there is also Haunt Entertainment. Gazebo Stage and PEANUTS Showplace change every season or two, but by 2015, Hacks, an improvised comedy show, has been located at the Galaxy Theater.
