Six Flags Fright Fest (formerly Fright Nights ) is a Halloween-oriented event held annually at the theme parks of Six Flags. It features a haunted attraction, a themed area called Scare Zone , and live entertainment.

Histori
Six Flags created Fright Fest after testing Halloween-based events during the 1970s in some of its parks. Six Flags AstroWorld, acquired in 1974, debuted Fright Nights in 1986, and continued the show until the park's closure in 2005. Six Flags St. Louis then became the second park to start the show in 1988, with Freddy Krueger as its main character.. The event was named Fright Fest in 1993 in all the parks, and kept going until the park closed. The Fest Fest began at Six Flags Over Texas the following year in 1989. The show featured ghost houses, tricks or treating trails for children, and more. In 1999, Six Flags licensed and opened the haunted Alice Brutal Planet of Alice in several parks, displaying music from albums and using similar elements in every home. The next year became just "Brutal Planet" and dropped Alice Cooper's theme. Since then, Six Flags has licensed other intellectual property to the labyrinth and frightening zones, including the movie Saw and Suicide Squad DC Comics .

General information
Six Flags parks are generally highly decorated for the Fright Fest, while also featuring additional haunted attractions, live entertainment and scare zones. Halloween-based performances were also performed, notably "Love at First Fright" at Six Flags St. Louis and Six Flags Great America, as well as final opening and closing ceremonies such as "Freaks Unleashed" and "Final Freakout" at Six Flags St. Louis bringing all actors to garden for the first and last scare. These gardens also feature the theme of "The Scare Zone" in designated park areas where costumed actors are allowed to frighten guests, although these parks usually include areas where actors are not allowed, allowing "safe areas" "for families with small children. or do not want to be afraid.
Many parks have similar events and share names and ideas, such as "The Parties of the Dead," which are at Six Flags St. Louis, Six Flags New England, Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Great America. Another show, "Love at First Fright" was only featured on Six Flags St. Louis, and Six Flags Great America, but also featured on Six Flags Over Georgia for a while. Most also have special events that release monsters into the park, including "Freaks Unleashed" at Six Flags St. Louis, "Awakening" at Six Flags Great Adventure and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, "The Uprising" at Six Flags Over Georgia, Six Flags of America , Six Flags Great America, and "Unleashed!" at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Previous "Fright Fest" events were also held at the former Six Flags Park of Darien Lake and Elitch Gardens. These gardens were sold to PARC Management in 2007, and PARC Management Park initially renamed their Fright Fest event as "Fall Family Fun Fest", adding family-oriented areas such as hay labyrinths and pumpkin paintings. The event was later renamed "FrightFest" from 2008 onwards, including 2011-2014 with Herschend Family Entertainment managing its properties. Darien Lake and Elitch Gardens are currently managed by Premier Parks, LLC, and while FrightFest ends at Darien Lake in 2015, replaced by the Harvest Festival, by 2017, it continues in Elitch Gardens as the "Fest Fest".
