Decorating cakes is one of the sugar art that uses layers or frosting and other edible decorative elements to make a plain cake more visually appealing. Alternatively, cakes can be formed and shaped like three-dimensional people, places and objects.

The cake decor comes from a 17th century European. During the 1840s, the appearance of temperature controlled ovens and the production of baking powder made cakes much easier. As temperature controls increase, an increasing emphasis on presentation and ornamentation is growing. Cakes begin to take on decorative shapes, adorned with an extra layer of sugar that is shaped into patterns and flowers, and food colorings are used to accentuate the decorations or layers of the cake.

Decorative cake is rumored to be started by a French bakery in the 1840s where a French baker wants to increase the price of the cake and therefore thinks of decorating it.

Although grilling from the beginning declined during the latter part of the 20th century in the United States, decorated cakes remain an important part of celebrations such as weddings, birthdays, birthdays, showers and other special occasions.

Type of decoration

Marzipan is often used to model cake decorations and sometimes as a cake top cover, although fondant is preferred.

Rubber paste, also known as florist paste, is an edible, fragile ingredient that is quickly dried and can be carved to make cake decorations such as flowers or mold designs.

Chocolate modeling is a chocolate paste made with melted chocolate and combines it with corn syrup, glucose syrup, or golden syrup. Chocolate is formed into different shapes and structures that can not be easily achieved with other edible, edible ingredients such as buttercream, marzipan or fondant frosting. Chocolate modeling can be made from white, dark, semi sweet, or milk chocolate.

Ink-edible printing is also used in decorating cakes. Decorative cakes usually involve covering it with some form of icing and then using ornamental sugar, candy, chocolate or icing to decorate the cake. But it can also be as simple as sprinkling icing or sprinkling glaze glaze over the cake. It has become a unique art form, and ranges from single layer cubes, simply decorated, to 3-dimensional layered creations, adorned with edible ribbons made of sugar. The initial construction method for cutting the shape of the cake and uniting it to make the structure has been replaced by a preformed character pan, and the formation of the cake from the fondant and various forms of marzipan.

Using this new form of fondant art should be used on the consistency of heavy cakes. However, it can be used on traditional store-bought cake mixtures. Fondant is heavier than traditional knives spreading frosting. Pre-made fondant available in the cake decoration section of the shops has a bit of flavoring. A homemade fondant can be made quickly at very little cost, and tends to have a better flavor than the previously purchased version.

Whether to use icing or fondant or marzipan to cover the cake, if the cake has several layers then not to shift it may need to be secured using a pen made of plastic straw, bubble tea straw, wood chopsticks or dowel wood.
