Plot
High school students Olivia White (Bridgit Mendler), Mohini "Mo" Banarjee (Naomi Scott), Charles "Charlie" Delgado (Blake Michael), Stella Yamada (Hayley Kiyoko), and Wendell "Wen" Gifford (Adam Hicks) all met after ended up in custody for different reasons. Miss Reznick (Tisha Campbell-Martin), the music teacher who oversaw the detention, went to argue with the principal of Mr Brenigen (Christopher McDonald) about her decision to move all extracurricular activities into the crypt to make room for the new gymnasium. The five men then touched a knock and played the instrument, and Olivia sang "Turn Up the Music." Miss Reznick came back and said that they would make a great band, and encourage them to enter a music competition called "Rising Star," in which the popular band, Mudslide Crush, plans to enter.
The next day, Stella sends a text message to a member stating: "Fluke or Destiny? We need to talk." The group agrees to chat on Dante's pizza where Stella reveals she signed the band for Rising Star and Halloween Bash.
The band formed Olivia as lead vocalist, Stella as lead guitarist, Mo as bass guitarist, Wen as keyboardist, and Charlie as drummer. At school, Olivia is cornered by Ray Beech (Chris Brochu), vocalist of Mudslide Crush. Stella eats lemonade for Ray in defense. Ray called Stella a "lemonade", naming the band. The band later discovered the lemonade was being removed.
When Mo sees his girlfriend, Scott Picket (Nick Roux), Mudslide Crush guitarist, teases with another girl, Jules (Caitlin Ribbans) he leaves her. On Halloween Bash, Lemonade Mouth did a "Determinate." After the show, Stella made a speech against Brenigen's decision and encouraged self-expression to the supportive people. Angry, Principal Brenigen forbade them to play in school. The next day, the band saw posters and banners around the school supporting Lemonade Mouth, boosting their spirits. Mo sang "He's Lost" at their regular show. They also found that "Determinate" was being played on local radio. Shortly after, however, things went down: Mo sick, Charlie broke his fingers, Wen wounded his eyes, and Olivia lost her voice. And all that remains is Stella, who is not injured.
Stella calls the band to school, where she protests against the removal of the lemonade. The group was involved in a fierce fight with the people who pulled out the lemonade. The police arrived and they were taken to a cell of detention to wait for their parents. They slowly come together to sing, "Turn the Music." The band agreed to perform in the Rising Star, after contemplating the stop.
In the Rising Star, Mudslide Crush performs "Do not Yes Wish U Were Us." Lemonade Mouth did not do "Determinate." The audience began to sing "Determinate" to support the band. Fed up with Ray, Scott leaves Mudslide Crush and joins Lemonade Mouth. Mo and Scott return together, Charlie starts talking to a girl who likes her, Stella and her mom get close again, and Wen receives her new stepmother.
At Wen's father's marriage, Stella recognized the man sitting next to her as Mel, the owner of a lemonade company. She donated the music room to the school, which Mr. Brenigen accepted. Olivia sent the whole story to her father, who was in jail. The standard edition of the movie closes with Lemonade Mouth performing "Breakthrough" at Madison Square Garden, with Scott as their new supplementary guitarist. The extended edition included an interview with Moxie Morris on "All Things Musical", where Mo and Scott's relationship was almost exposed by Moxie in front of Mo's father, but stopped by Olivia, who said that she and Wen were dating. The band performed "Livin On A High Wire".
