Histori

Kellogg's was founded as a Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company on February 19, 1906, by Will Keith Kellogg as a result of his work with his brother John Harvey Kellogg in Battle Creek Sanitarium following practices based on the Seventh-day Adventist Church. The company produced and marketed the highly successful Cornell Toasted Corn Shake and was named Kellogg company in 1922.

In 1930, the Kellogg Company announced that most of its factories would shift toward 30 working hours a week, from the usual 40. W.K. Kellogg stated that he did this so that additional worker shifts would be used in an effort to support people through the depression era. This practice persisted until World War II, and continued briefly after the war, although some departments and factories remained locked in 30 working hours a week until 1980.

From 1969 to 1977, Kellogg acquired various small businesses including Salada Foods, Fearn International, Pies Mrs Smith, Eggo, and Pure Packed Foods; However, it was later criticized for not further diversification such as General Mills and Quaker Oats. After undermining its competition in product marketing and development, Kellogg's US market share reached 36.7 percent in 1983. A well-known Wall Street analyst called him "a good company that passed his prime" and the cereal market was considered "mature." Such comments encourage Kellogg chairman William E. LaMothe to improve, which mainly involves approaching the demographics of 80 million baby boomers rather than the marketing of child-oriented cereals. In emphasizing the convenience of cereals and nutritional value, Kellogg's helped persuade US consumers aged 25 to 49 years to consume 26% more cereals than those at that age who ate five years earlier. The US ready-to-eat cereal market, valued at $ 3.7 billion in retail in 1983, totaled $ 5.4 billion in 1988 and has grown three times faster than the average foodstuff category. Kellogg's also introduced new products including Crispix, Raisin Squares, and Nutri-Grain Biscuits and reaches the international with Just Right devoted to Australia and Genmai Flakes to Japan. During this time, the company maintained its success over its main competitor: General Mills, which mostly markets children's cereals, and Post, which is having trouble in the adult cereal market.

In March 2001, Kellogg's made its biggest acquisition, the Keebler Company. Over the years, he has also purchased Morningstar Farms and Kashi's divisions or subsidiaries. Kellogg's also has Bear Naked, Natural Touch, Cheez-It, Murray, cookies and cracker Austin, Famous Amos, Gardenburger (acquired 2007), and the Plantation brand. Currently, Kellogg's is a member of the World Cocoa Foundation.

In 2012, Kellogg's became the second largest snack company in the world (after PepsiCo) by acquiring the Pringles potato chips brand from Procter & amp; Gambling for $ 2.7 billion in cash deal.

In 2017, Kellogg acquired a food company based in Chicago Rxbar for $ 600 million. Earlier that year, Kellogg's also opened a new corporate office space at Merchandise Mart Chicago for global growth and IT departments.

In 2018, Kellogg decided to stop their operations in Venezuela because of the economic crisis facing the country.

Kids Premium

Kellogg's Corn Flakes has the first premium cereal with The Funny Jungleland Moving Pictures Book. This book was originally available as a gift given to customers in the store by purchasing two cereal packages. However in 1909, Kellogg's turned the book giveaway into a premium mail-in offering at a cost of a dime. More than 2.5 million copies of this book are distributed in different editions over a period of 23 years.

Gift cereal box

In 1945, Kellogg's included a gift in the form of a pin-back button to each of Pep's cereal boxes. Pin Pep has incorporated US Army squadrons as well as characters from newspaper comics and is available until 1947. There are five series of comic characters and 18 different buttons in each set, for a total of 90 in the collection. Other manufacturers of major brands of cereals, including General Mills, Malt-O-Meal, NestlÃÆ'Â ©, Post Foods, and Quaker Oats, follow and put presents into cereal boxes to promote brand sales and loyalty.

Mascots

Licensed brands have been removed because the corresponding mascots will be obvious (eg Spider-Man is the mascot for Spide-Man Spidey-Berry).

Motorports

Kellog's made its first foray into auto racing between 1991 and 1992 when the company sponsored Chevrolet # 41 by Larry Hedrick Motorsports in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series and driven by Phil Parsons, Dave Marcis, Greg Sacks, Hut Stricklin and Richard Petty, but they gained even greater popularity as they sponsored the 2nd Winston Cup champion Terry Labonte from 1993 to 2006, the last 12 years as sponsors for the # 5 Hendrick Motorsports car. Kellogg sponsored # 5 for Labonte, Kyle Busch, Casey Mears, and Mark Martin until 2010, and later served as associate sponsor for # 100 car # Carl Edwards for Roush Fenway Racing.

Kellogg put Dale Earnhardt on Kellogg's Corn Flakes boxes for 1993 six-time Winston Cup winner and 1994 seven-time Winston Cup winner, and Jeff Gordon on Box Mini Wheats for 1993 rookie this year, 1995 400 Brickyard races, 1997 and 1998 champion times, and a special three-pack racing box set with Dale Earnhardt, Jeff Gordon, Terry Labonte, and Dale Jarrett in 1996.

It is played in the same way as Donkey Kong Country; users can play as Tony the Tiger, Coco the Monkey, or Snap, Crackle, and Pop. Kellogg's also released the game "Talking". The two current versions are Talking Tony and Talking Sam. In this game, microphones are used to play games and create voice commands for their computers. In Tony Talking, Tony the Tiger, one of Kellogg's most famous mascots, will be the main character and the only one in the game. In Talking Sam, Toucan Sam, another famous mascot, will be in the game. Some [toy cars] have Kellogg logos on it, and sometimes their mascots.

There are also Talking Snap Crackle and Pop devices.

Controversy

Questionable Nutrition Value

Some of Kellogg's marketing has been questioned in the media, driven by increased consumer awareness about the mismatch between marketing messages and the product itself.

Food bloggers are also questioning the marketing methods used by cereal manufacturing companies such as Kellogg's, due to its high sugar content and the use of ingredients such as high fructose corn syrup.

Cereal reminder 2010

On June 25, the company voluntarily began to recall about 28 million boxes of Apple Jacks, Corn Pops, Froot Loops and Honey Smacks because of the unusual smells and flavors of packaged packages that can make people sick. Kellog's said about 20 people complained about cereal, including five who reported nausea and vomiting. Consumers report the cereal smells or feels like wax or metal or soap. Company spokesman J. Adaire Putnam said some described it as stale tasting. However, no serious health problems have been reported.

The suspected chemicals that cause the disease are 2-methylnaphthalene, used in the process of packing cereals. Little is known about the impact of 2-methylnaphthalene on human health as the Food and Drug Administration has no scientific data about its impact on humans, and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) also lacks health and safety data. This is though the EPA has requested information from him from the chemical industry for 16 years. 2-Methylnaphthalene is a component of crude oil and "structurally related to naphthalene, materials in camphor and toilet-deodorant blocks" that the EPA considers the possibility of human carcinogens.

Kellogg's offers temporary consumer refunds. Only products with the letter "KN" after the date of use are included in the withdrawal. The products are distributed throughout the US and start arriving in stores by the end of March 2010. Products in Canada are not affected.

cereal memory 2012

Kellogg's issued a voluntary withdrawal of some of the original "Frozen Size Mini-Wheats Bite Size" and "Mini-Wheats Unfrosted Bite Size" because of the possibility of flexible metal mesh fragments in the diet. The affected product varies in size from a single serving bowl to a large 70 ounce carton. Date of use by printed on the withdrawn package from April 1, 2013, to 21 September 2013, and accompanied by a family planning letter, AP or FK.

Claim an ad

On June 3, 2010, Kellog's was found making unproven and misleading claims in advertising their cereal products by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

Kellogg responded by stating "We support the validity of our product claims and research, so we approve orders that include those claims We believe that revisions to the existing agreement will satisfy the remaining concerns."

The FTC had previously found fault with Kellogg's claim that Frosted Mini-Wheats cereals increased children's attention by almost 20%.

The Children's Ad Review Unit of the Better Business Bureau Board has also suggested that the language in the Kellogg Pop-Tarts package that says "Dried with Real Fruits" cookies must be taken from the product. In July 2012, the UK banned "Special K" ads for citing the caloric value that does not take into account the calorific value of milk consumed with cereals. In 2016, ads that tell UK consumers that Special K "full of goodness" and "nourishment" are prohibited.
