Plot

Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour speaks to the wizarding media, stating that the Ministry remains strong, even when Lord Voldemort gains power. The Death Eaters committed mass murder of Muggles and infiltrated the Ministry. Harry, Ron, and Hermione set out to complete the mission that Dumbledore had given Harry by hunting down and destroying the Voldemort Horcrux. Severus Snape told Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters about Harry's impending departure from Privet Drive. Voldemort commanded the stick of Lucius Malfoy, because Voldemort's own wand could not be used to kill Harry because they shared the same core.

The Order of the Phoenix escorted Harry to a safe place using Polyjuice Potion to create Harry's bait. During the flight they were ambushed by Death Eaters who killed Mad-Eye Moody and Hedwig, wounded George Weasley, and paralyzed Hagrid. Arriving at Burrow, Harry has a vision of the wandmaker Ollivander being tortured by Voldemort. The next day Scrimgeour arrives at Burrow with the will of Albus Dumbledore. Ron accepts Dumbledore Deluminator, Hermione receives a copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, and Harry receives the first Gold Snitch he captured in a Quidditch match. Scrimgeour reveals that Harry also inherited Godric Gryffindor's Sword. The Minister told Harry that the sword was not Dumbledore to be inherited, and lost.

Death Eaters kill Scrimgeour and replace it with Pius Thicknesse. The Ministry arrested and abused Muggle-born magicians and magicians. During the marriages of Bill Weasley and Fleur Delacour, Death Eaters attacked. The charm of the patronus Kingsley Shacklebolt gave a warning to the wedding, and most of the escape. Harry, Hermione, and Ron refuse to London, but are attacked in a restaurant by Death Eaters. The trio sought refuge at 12 Grimmauld Place. They found that "R.A.B." of the fake Horcrux pendant is Regulus Arcturus Black, the younger brother of Sirius Black. Kreacher, the Black home elf, told them that Mundungus Fletcher broke in and stole many items from home including real lockets. Kreacher and Dobby catch Fletcher, who reveals that the pendant belongs to Dolores Umbridge. Using Polyjuice Potion, the trio infiltrated the Ministry and found a locket around Umbridge's neck. Harry makes Umbridge and Hermione take the locket. The trio run away from their pursuers by apparate in the wilderness, but Ron is injured and can not rotate again until he recovers.

After a failed attempt to destroy the Horcrux, the trio take turns to wear it to melt its power. Harry sees Voldemort's vision interrogating and killing the wandmaker Gregorovitch, who claims a teenage boy steals the legendary Elder Wand from his shop. While Ron was wearing the locket, he was overpowered by negative feelings and arguing with Harry before leaving him and Hermione. Hermione concludes that Gryffindor's sword can destroy the Horcrux and decide with Harry to go to Godric's Hollow. They visited Harry's parents' grave and the house where they were killed. They meet Bathilda Bagshot, whom they believe has a sword. Bathilda let Harry and Hermione into her house, and was revealed to actually become Nagini, controlling Bathilda's body resurrected from her. Hermione and Harry escape to the Forest of Dean, but Hermione accidentally broke Harry's wand when fighting against Nagini. Hermione identifies the mysterious thief in Harry's vision as Gellert Grindelwald.

Harry sees the Patronus in the form of a deer, which takes him to a frozen pond. The Gryffindor sword lies beneath the ice of the pond, which Harry breaks and jumps to take the sword. The pendant around his neck choked him, but Ron arrived and rescued Harry. Harry uses the parseltongue to open the locket, and Ron destroys the Horcrux with a sword. Hermione and Ron were at peace, and the three decided to visit Xenophilius Lovegood to learn more about the symbols drawn in Dumbledore's book that left Hermione. Lovegood explains to them that the symbol symbolizes Deathly Hallows, the three magical objects that can make the master of Death wizard. Hermione read the story about Hallows, and after some awkward conversation the trio tried to leave but was stopped by Lovegood. He explains that Luna has been kidnapped before calling Death Eaters. Harry, Ron, and Hermione disappeared because Lovegood's house was destroyed.

Back in the desert, the trio set up camp when Snatchers found them. Hermione used a curse to disguise Harry's features when the Snatcher took them to Malfoy Manor. Bellatrix Lestrange imprisons Harry and Ron in the basement with Luna, Ollivander, and Griphook the goblin. Bellatrix tortures Hermione for information on how they got the Gryffindor sword, which Bellatrix claimed in his vault at Gringott's. Harry asks for help, communicating with a broken mirror piece on hers. Dobby goes into the basement to save them. Harry and Ron hastily rescued Hermione, and there was a battle that saw Harry disarm Draco Malfoy. Dobby dropped the candlestick into Bellatrix, forcing him to let go of Hermione. Bellatrix throws the knife at them as Dobby grabs everyone and pulls it out. They arrive at Shell Cottage and discover that the Bellatrix knife has hurt Dobby. Harry insists that they bury Dobby without any magic.

Voldemort bursts into Dumbledore's grave and steals the Elder Wand.

Production

Part 1 was filmed back-to-back with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 from 19 February 2009 to 12 June 2010. Director David Yates, who shot films with director of photography Eduardo Serra, described Part 1 as "quite real"; The "road movie" was "almost like a documentary".

Originally set for a single theatrical release, the idea of dividing the book into two parts was suggested by executive producer Lionel Wigram for what David Heyman called "creative imperatives". Heyman initially responds to the idea in a negative way, but Wigram asks, "No, David, how are we going to do it?". After rereading the book and discussing it with screenwriter Steve Kloves, he agrees with the division.

Production was filmed at Dartford Crossing for a dramatic pursuit in which Hagrid and Harry were ambushed by Death Eaters.

Set

Stuart Craig, arranging the designer for all previous Harry Potter movies, returns for the last two sections. He said, "We made very different films, which were taken in many locations, we traveled quite a lot, we built sets, and they spend a lot of time in the forest," he explained. "We built the forest set and integrated it into the real forest, so there are challenges there, as you can imagine." Craig was finally nominated for an Academy Award for his work in Part 1.

In wedding tents for Bill and Fleur's wedding in Part 1, Craig commented on his goal to "rather than make it an extension of the house, which is rather eccentric, homemade, we decided to make it more elegant... It is lined with beautiful silk and floating candles. So for a good contrast with the house. "For the set of Ministry of Magic, he noted," This is an underground world; this is a ministry, so we went to the real ministry, the Muggle-Whitehall ministry, in London - and decided that our miraculous ministry is a kind of parallel universe to this real ministry. "

Craig also commented on the design of Malfoy Manor, saying that it was "a very powerful set of architectures. The exterior is based on Elizabethan's home here in the country called Hardwick Hall and has large windows, and these windows are somewhat blinded. so they are like a blind window and they have a real presence, an unpleasant presence, thus giving us a basis for a good exterior. There is an amazing magical roof that is added and surrounded by a forest that is not in reality, but again is one of the devices to make it more threatening and mysterious. "

Costume

The costume for Part 1 was designed by Jany Temime, who has been a costume designer on Harry Potter production since Harry Potter and Azkaban Prisoners (2004). Temime is involved in the controversy over his work on Fleur Delacour wedding dresses. He is accused of copying the design of a similar dress from Alexander McQueen's 2008 Alexander Fall collection. Temime talks about the dress, saying that she "wants to be a witch's wedding dress but not a Halloween dress." Her dress is white but it needs to have something fantastic for it, so there is a phoenix [motive], the bird, which is a symbol of love by the way because there is a birth back, love never dies, it is reborn. "

Visual effects

After working on every movie since Prisoner of Azkaban , Double Negative was asked to provide visual effects for the final installment of the story, in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 and 2 . Working closely with the VFX film Supervisor, Tim Burke, the team is led by VFX Supervisor, David Vickery and VFX Producer Charlotte Loughlane. The main team also includes 3DÃ ©, Supervisor, Rick Leary and 2DÃ, Supervisor, SeanÃ, Stranks.

Double Negative Works for Part 1 include Warner Brothers littering logos and extensive environmental extensions from Burrows and surrounding areas. Additional environmental work is completed at Xenophilius Lovegood's home, expanding it in 3D and culminating in a Death Eaters attack. Double Negative also promotes the smoke effects of Death Eaters, with the introduction of the 'flayed man' stage between smokey, fluid, flying state and their live-action presence on landing. Other occupations include Patronus charms that interfere with weddings to inform guests that Voldemort has taken over the Ministry of Magic.

The visual effects firm Framestore produces most CGI creatures, as in previous films, as well as the animated sequence of Tale of the Three Brothers, directed and designed by Ben Hibon.

Music

The composer Nicholas Hooper, who printed the Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince, did not return for Deathly Hallows . Instead, Alexandre Desplat is employed to compile a score for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 . The film also features the song "O Children" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
