Setlists
Known for never playing the same show twice, the band has a show-to-show ritual to select a setlist that night. At the start of each tour, a member of the band's road crew made a major list of all the songs the band performed and overlaid them. Every night before the show, she marked the last 3 nights list with different colors. The band can see what has been played recently and then decide what song will be played during the first set. They return to the list during the set break to select the song for the second set, and also, return after the second set for an additional set if playing more than two, or encore. This process is described by the late Garrie Vereen on the DVD Will Earth Swallow You .
