He is an evil fairy and proclaims himself to be the "All Crime Lady" who, having not been invited to baptize, cursed Baby Aurora's baby for "poking his finger on a rotating and dead wheel axle" before sunset on the sixteenth anniversary of the Aurora.

Maleficent is based on the character of the evil fairy mother in the Charles Charles fairy tale of "Sleeping Beauty", as well as the villain who appears in the jerk of the Brothers Grimm of the story, "Little Briar Rose". She is voiced by Eleanor Audley, who previously voiced Lady Tremaine, Cinderella's evil stepmother, at Cinderella (1950). Maleficent animated by Marc Davis.

The postmodernist's revision of the character appears as a protagonist in the live-action 2014 Maleficent film, depicted by Angelina Jolie. Development

The character was animated by Marc Davis. Wicked magicians or horned wizards are aptly called "Maleficent" (an adjective meaning "committing a crime or danger"). In determining Maleficent design, standard depictions of magicians and hags are dismissed because Mattinson chooses an elegant, creepy, green-skinned beauty centered around the appearance of fire, which eventually crowns the villain with a two-point black headdress, often called "atora". According to Mattinson, Maleficent "is designed like a giant vampire bat to create feelings of threat."

She is voiced by Eleanor Audley, who previously performed Lady Tremaine, Cinderella's evil stepmother, at Cinderella. Audley also provides several live-action recordings for both of these characters, to inspire the animators. In addition, dancer Jane Fowler made several live-action references for Maleficent. Animators Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas, in their book The Disney Villain, portray Audley's voice as "a difficult but stressful task, working on the voice track with so much insinuation mixed with malignant powers.. "

Maleficent transforms into a dragon in the original film, animated by Eric Cleworth, who says that the dragon is modeled on rattlesnakes, with "strong muscles that move large bodies over rocky terrain." Human voice effect Jim Macdonald searched for the sound of dragon fire breath by asking the US Army to send him some training films about the throwing of fire. These films provide the right sound for him.

Sleeping Beauty

He expressed his displeasure about not accepting an invitation, to which a good Merryweather fairy replied that she was not wanted. Enraged, he prepares to leave. Queen Lea asks him if he is offended, causing Maleficent to refuse his anger, and then offers to give Aurora "gifts" to show that he "has no ill intentions". Maleficent asserts that Aurora will grow in grace and beauty, "loved by all who know him", but as revenge for being uninvited, he puts a curse on the Aurora so before the sun sets on his sixteenth birthday he will pierce his finger. on a rotating and dead wheel axle. Laughing, his presence gone, with the Royal Guards unable to catch him. Merryweather, who still has the gift of conferring, can not dispel the power of Maleficent, but is able to weaken the curse so Aurora will fall asleep soundly, with only a kiss of the true love it takes to awaken it.

Then, in his castle in the Forbidden Mountains, a frustrated Maleficent asks his animal soldiers why they can not find the Aurora, which has been concealed by three good fairies. Maleficent learns that they have focused on finding babies all the time, though many years have passed. Maleficent flies into destructive anger, and immediately furiously instructs his pet gag, Diablo, to find the Aurora. Birds succeed because of the magical quarrel between the two fairies, which expose their location.

On the night of the sixteenth anniversary of the Aurora, after the three fairies left the oppressed princess alone, Maleficent visited Aurora in the form of will-o-the-wisp, enticing the princess into a room where Maleficent turned into a spinning wheel. Aurora poked his finger on the spindle, filling the curse.

Later, Maleficent and his men captured Prince Phillip, Aurora's true love, and imprisoned him. Maleficent then rested well, thinking he had won.

Maleficent then wakes up and, seeing Diablo has turned into a stone, finds that the fair has freed Philip from his underground dungeon. He climbed to the top of one of his royal towers and proceeded with Philip with lightning, and after a good fairy thwarted this effort, he called for a thorny forest, where Philip cut off his path. Angry, he blew and confronted it in front of King Stefan's castle, and turned into a huge black dragon. The three fairies enhanced the charm of Phillip's Truth, which he threw into Maleficent's heart, injuring himself before he fell from a cliff collapsing to his death.

Maleficent

As an adult, Maleficent is betrayed by Stefan, who uses iron to burn his wings so that he can ascend the throne of the human kingdom, like a gift declared by the dying King Henry, who revenge him. Taking a crow named Diaval as a servant, the name Maleficent who now full of hatred himself the ruler of Moors and his clothes turned into a darker one. When he finds out that Stefan is now king and has had a newborn daughter named Aurora (Elle Fanning) with his wife, Queen Leila, acting on the basis of the idea that true love does not exist, Maleficent puts a curse on a newborn Aurora to sleep forever unless he received a true love kiss, as a revenge on Stefan. Since the three fairies assigned to guard Aurora proved incompetent, however, Maleficent cares and saves children from afar to ensure that his curse is complete, only to eventually develop maternal affection for him. Love proved important for a converted Maleficent to break his own curse when he kissed Aurora on the forehead. Upon awakening from his sleep, Aurora helps restore Maleficent's wings to him when Stefan tries to kill Maleficent, allowing him to defeat Stefan.

Once Upon a Time

The Maleficent version plays a role in the plot for the 2011 American fantasy TV drama series Once Upon a Time, played by Kristin Bauer van Straten as a magician capable of taking the form of fire-inhaling dragons. Maleficent was first introduced as "the only friend" of Evil Queen of Snow White. He is also somewhat responsible in his use of magic: he continues to hide the Dark Curse of Rumpelstiltskin to ensure it will never be used, and, upon learning that he has been robbed by Robin Hood, allows him to save gold on conditions that will return Scarlet mirrors dangerous (actually portal to Wonderland) he stole. She does have a bit of anger, after going after two generations of Sleeping Beauties: Queen Briar Rose and Princess Aurora, her daughter.

Rumplestiltskin once collected it, Cruella de Vil, and Ursula as "Queens of Darkness" to get the Dark Curse from within Bald Mountain. The three have combined their talents to get it while avoiding Chernabog.

Maleficent has a daughter named Lily whose eggs are separated from him because Isaac (who was the author at the time; he was responsible for recording the story but chose to change it) set Snow White and Prince Charming down the path where they would be forced to choose between accepting that their daughter, the unborn Emma, has free will and thus can become evil, or choose to harm the innocent ("not yet changed in old and evil ways") and transfer Emma's potential darkness into the chosen vessel. They choose the latter and steal Lily that has not been redeemed from Maleficent; Maleficent is weak from childbirth/laying eggs and consequently can not defend themselves or their children. The Sorcerer's Apprentice, controlled by Isaac, proceeded to transfer Emma's potential for darkness into an egg containing Lily; Lily is then transported to Earth with Ursula and Cruella de Vil, who are trying to rescue her on behalf of Maleficent (It should be noted that Snow and Charming are unaware that their preferred ship will be shipped to another world, not being asked about that fate, however, human infants as opposed to dragooning they are trying to prevent falling hatching eggs into portals).

When transported to Storybrooke, Maleficent was trapped in dragon form and trapped in caves under the city library, and he was later killed by Emma Swan to get a True Love liquid bottle that had previously been hidden inside her body by Prince Charming (as part of a deal with Rumplestiltskin). He also returns in the second season as a ghost when Captain Hook is used as a distraction while Regina looks for a strong, failsafe object, so he can blow up Storybrooke and escape with Henry; Hook is able to defeat Maleficent and run away with the help of Greg and Tamara.

After being resurrected by Rumplestiltskin because of Mary Mary Blanchard's ashes and David Nolan's blood, Maleficent works with Rumplestiltskin, Cruella de Vil, and Ursula to ensure that criminals and not heroes will be people with happy endings. During this time Maleficent made a deal with Rumplestiltkin, though he did not meet the end of the Rumple bargain, empathizing as a parent who lost their child, agreed to show him the fate of his son. He learned that, although Cruella had guided him to believe that his son had died during a trip to the Land of Witchcraft, his son, a daughter, did survive and was soon adopted. After Ursula reconciled with her father Poseidon and Cruella were killed by Emma to defend Henry's life (or so she believed), Maleficent chose to return it to Rumplestiltskin, undermining her inevitable betrayal; with Regina and Emma's help she reunited with Lily and put aside her plans to take revenge on Mary Margaret and David. Following Lily's first transformation into a dragon, Maleficent convinces Lily to stay at Storybrooke so she can learn what it means to be a dragon. Lily then tells Emma that Maleficent does not know who Lily's father is, because the marriage takes place while both partners are in dragon form. Maleficent reappears in his dragon forming United Realms in the final series, prompting Regina to ask if Lily ever found her father, and Zelena replies it is Zorro.

Franchise franchise

Kristin Chenoweth signed a contract to play Maleficent in Disney's original Disney Channel movie Descendants, which follows teenage boys from Disney iconic heroes and villains. 20 years before the movie, all Disney criminals (including those who died after bringing them back to life) living in the United States Auradon were isolated on the Isle of the Lost (a place sealed with a magical barrier to prevent all criminals from escaping or making miracles) after King Beast and Queen Belle unite the kingdom after their honeymoon. 20 years later, the son of Queen Belle and the King of Animals named Ben made a proclamation to give the Isle of the Lost children the opportunity to join the community again, starting with four children, including Maleficient's own boy Mal (played by Dove Cameron ). ).

Descendants: Isle of the Lost

In the prequel books Isle of the Lost , it is stated that Maleficent became the official ruler of the Isle of the Lost. Since Evil Queen also wanted to master the Isle, they became rivals. At some point before the book event, Maleficent had a "moment of weakness" with unknown human men (who never mentioned it again after the incident) and became pregnant with a girl. Maleficent named the baby girl her own name, but called her "Mal" because she did not believe her daughter could be really bad. He's half human. Six years later, after learning that the Evil Queen did not invite Mal to his daughter Evie's birthday party, he drove the two women from the main city and forever; However, after ten years, Evie and her mother returned to the remote island, but Maleficent did not realize it at first, because she did not really care. When Carlos, the son of Cruella de Vil, broke the second magical barrier, the Maleficent Diablo pet was released from the stone curse and felt that the Dragon's Eyes (Maleficent staff) also awakened. He traveled to the city on the Isle of the Lost and discovered Maleficent, who ordered his daughter Mal to recover the Eye of the Dragon (located in Maleficent's Castle). Mall set out to find Mata with Carlos, Evie and Jay (Jafar's son), but because Maleficent does not trust Mal, he secretly orders Diablo to follow Mal and take Eyes. Although his suspicions came true when Diablo returned with Mata and Mal empty-handed, he was surprised to find that Mal could find the Dragon's Eye in his throne hall but quickly became disillusioned when Mal admitted that he touched the Eyes instead of deceiving others to touch him first, Maleficent cursed the Eyes to get someone else to fall asleep for 1000 years (which is Mal's original plan, Mal wants to take revenge on Evie, so he should force Evie to touch Crystal eyes.)

offspring

In the 2015 film Descendants, when Maleficent learned of Prince Ben's proclamation to bring his daughter with Evie, Carlos and Jay to Auradon and join the community again, Maleficent "joined" with Evil Queen, Jafar and Cruella De Vil troops and ordered Mal and his friends to steal the Fairy Godmother's wand so as to be able to use it to bend good and evil to his wishes. To his disbelief Mal did not follow his plan. Maleficent forces Mal becomes a magical "stare contest" to build his power over Mal, who loses and ultimately accepts to proceed with plans with the other three. Maleficent gives Mall his own magic spell to make the task easier and warns Mal not to blow it up.

When Mal and his friends show up at the museum to steal a magic wand, they find their parents' wax statues. Mal asks his mother to say what to do and the Maleficent statue comes to life and encourages Mal to keep his evil way, promising that they will reign together as mothers and daughters and eventually he will take his place.

A few weeks later he and three other criminals got a video call phone with the kids; Maleficent makes a joke about Godmother Fairy about the magic he did in Cinderella (which God God god does not really like to joke) and asks Mal (hiding his true intentions as motherly love) when he will have a magic wand; he gets a little annoyed when Mal tells his mom that they have to wait until Ben's coronation, but when Cruella interjects she yells at his son, he can again interrogate Mal about the plan.

A few days later, during Prince Ben's coronation, he was surprised when he saw Mal looking like a princess and by Ben, but prayed to his daughter to "do not blow it". In the coronation, Elf's mother's daughter, Jane steals her mother's stick to give her a magical change like Cinderella, but because of her mistake destroying the magical barrier of the Isle of the Lost. After recovering his old magic, Maleficient appeared in the coronation and ordered Mal (who took a wand from Jane) to give him a magic wand, without knowing that her daughter and her friends had sworn to be a good moment before. Mal gives a wand to the Fairy Mothers, but Maleficent makes a freeze spell on everyone (except himself, his daughter and his friends) and takes the wand of the Fairy Mother. Mal and his mother have an argument about Mal's choice and, even to the surprise of Maleficent, managed to issue a spell to take a wand from Maleficent's hand. Maleficent became angry and demanded Mal to return the stick to him. But Carlos says "Maybe the good is actually stronger than evil." Maleficent laughed at this and a dog approached him. He pushed him and Jay came and touched his staff, causing him to shine green. He struck her on the forehead, laughed again, and turned herself into a dragon. After Evie blinds her with the light from her magic mirror, she and Mal have a stare at another, but Mal spell spells three times ( # Strength of evil is not as good as standing in front of four hearts as one!) and fight back.Mileficent can not stand all kindness and love and turn into a small lizard, which is the same size as love in his heart.Next propaganda states that Maleficent is put into "small cells", but the inhabitants of Auradon do not know where he is stored.

Descendants: Return to Isle of the Lost

In the sequel novel Back to the Isle of the Lost, Maleficent keeps a small lizard in a small cell, constantly kept secure. Maleficent just slept in the cage, ignoring even Mal. When Camelot Hight residents reported finding a dragon, they suspected it was a Maleficent act. Later, it was revealed that Mrs. Mim caused all the disturbances.
