Maleficent ( or ) is a fictional character that appears in the Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film, Sleeping Beauty (1959 ). He is an evil fairy and proclaims himself to be the "All Crime Lady" who, having not been invited to baptize, cursed Baby Aurora's baby for "poking his finger on a rotating and dead wheel axle" before sunset on the sixteenth anniversary of the Aurora.

Maleficent is featured in the sequel to Sleeping Beauty titled Maleficent's Revenge .
