Spider-Woman is the code name of some fictional characters in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The original and original Spider-Woman, Jessica Drew, had her own animated television series, and the second Spider-Woman, Julia Carpenter, was a regular on the 1990's Iron Man TV series, part of Hours Marvel Action .

Marvel Comics publisher, Stan Lee, said in 1978, shortly after Spider-Woman's debut at Marvel Spotlight # 32 (February 1977) and the beginning of a 50-issue self-titled character issue (cover-dated April 1978 - June 1983), the character originated because,
I suddenly realized that some other companies can quickly issue such books and claim that they are entitled to use the name, and I think we should do it very quickly to include the copyright name. So we just fend off it quickly, and that's what happened. I want to protect the name, because that is the kind of thing where others might say, 'Hey, why do not we get Spider-Woman out; they can not stop us. '... You know, a few years ago we took out Wonder Man, and [DC Comics] sued us because they had Wonder Woman, and... I said okay, I'm going to stop Wonder Man. And suddenly they had a Power Girl [after Marvel introduced the Power Man]. Oh Boy. It's not fair.
Following the early Spider-Woman series, more followed. Volume two is a miniseries published from November 1993 to February 1994; volume three was published from July 1999 to December 2000; and volume four, featuring Jessica Drew, the original Spider-Woman, published from November 2009 to May 2010.
