The Scary Godmother is a series of children's books and comic books created by artist Jill Thompson and published by Sirius Entertainment from 1997.
Thompson describes his work and character like this: "Surprising Queen Mother like your fairy godfather, but for Halloween There's nothing scary about Baptist Frightening Mother, She's fun and horrible, reminds of childhood with a bit of social comment mixed in "He states that" comics are so separate now "and that he wants to create something that can be enjoyed by young readers and adults. "She decided to make something with the Halloween theme after looking for a Halloween-themed book for her nephew and did not find anything she liked. The books used a combination of storybook/comic format. Thompson performed the interior and also the cover for Scary Godmother, and he says that planning ahead and meeting deadlines can be a challenge.

Movie adaptation
Two films have been produced based on the series. The first one, Surprised Mother: Spooktacular Halloween , aired on television in Europe, Latin America, Australia and Canada in 2003. Then premiered in the United States on Cartoon Network in 2004. The film is first, Mainframe Entertainment uses its new software/animation channel for. Jill Thompson co-authored the script, and had some creative control over the project. When he was shown the initial character designs for films similar to watercolor illustrations in his books, he requested that his character be entirely computer-generated. (In an interview, Thompson stated that he wanted them to go with the CGI because "I'm doing 2D No one else should do 2D, just me.") However, the mostly static background used in this movie is more similar to cel animation or illustrations in Thompson's books. Therefore, 3D characters often appear to "appear" from their backgrounds. The visual style of the film is described as resembling Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas rather than computer animated films such as Finding Nemo . However, a movie review in the School Library Journal described the film as "Toy Story meets Tim Burton", and considers that the animation is similar to Thompson's watercolor illustration.
The second one, Godmother the Scary: Revenge of Jimmy (based on the second book), aired in 2005.
