Premise

The series follows the development of the relationship between character and division between New York and the hidden world beneath it. However, in a turnaround of the original story, this "animal" does not turn into a public idea of beauty after getting Catherine's love. In contrast, Vincent's inner beauty is allowed to remain the focus of who he is, and that is Catherine's life that changed from her relationship with Vincent.

In the third season after the death of Catherine's character, Jo Anderson became the new female actress who plays Diana Bennett, a criminal profiler who investigates Catherine's murder.

Synopsis of series

Season 1

Catherine Chandler (played by Linda Hamilton) was kidnapped, beaten, slashed and left to die in Central Park because she was inadvertently mistaken for someone else. He was saved and cared for by Vincent (played by Ron Perlman) who had brought him to Father (played by Roy Dotrice), the hidden community head of the people who lived in the tunnel under New York City. Ten days later, Catherine returned to the surface with the promise of keeping Vincent's secrecy and the challenge to continue after his terrible attacks. After completing his recovery, his life began with a serious transition: he took self-defense lessons, left his comfortable job at his father's firm and joined the Manhattan District Attorney's office as Assistant District Attorney. His first act involved him asking Carol Stabler about the people who attacked him, where he stated that they were part of the illegal escort service run by Martin Belmont. When Catherine was attacked by Martin Belmont people, she was saved by Vincent, who persecuted the men.

During the first season, the production team formed a mixture of romance and crime drama, which uses Catherine's position as an ADA and her desire to help Vincent and her world to put her in moments of physical danger that will bring the ideal of Vincent's romantic to the surface world as her guardian angel.

Season 2

During the second season, the series slightly changed its focus to add character development, as the central character spent much time exploring their relationship with the residents of the World Tunnel, where Catherine was finally accepted as a friend and "Helper" (someone who helped the Tunnel community with what they needed to survive and to keep their secrets). More people from the Upper World are emerging for emotional and healing support in the safe environment of the Underworld.

However, towards the end of the season, in an effort to raise a shaky rank, action orientation returned as a result of the apostasy of Paracelsus recurring villain (played by Tony Jay). In the last episode of the cliffhanger, Catherine is seen walking down a tunnel into a room, where Vincent suffers from madness.

Season 3

When the series returned for the third season shortened in late 1989, Linda Hamilton had announced her decision to leave the series when she was pregnant at the time. It was a decision that, along with the network's desire to attract more male audiences, would have a serious impact on the event's survival. In resolution for the cliffhanger of the previous season, Catherine rescued Vincent from his demon but was kidnapped by a man named Gabriel (played by Stephen McHattie), the cruel chief of the great criminal empire he had investigated, who tried to damage the DA Office. He was killed, but not before the birth of Vincent's son, being held hostage by evil Gabriel. Catherine's boss and close friend Joe Maxwell (Jay Acovone) hired Diana Bennett (Jo Anderson), a criminal profiler with the police department, to track down Catherine's killer. Quite naturally, his investigation finally led him to Vincent who is now obsessed and mourning.
