Sabrina: The Animated Series is an American animated television series based on the Archie Comics character Sabrina the Teenage Witch. It is manufactured by Savage Studios Ltd. and Hartbreak Films in collaboration with DIC Entertainment, owned by Disney at the time.

Although advertised as a spin-off of the live-action series and borrowing certain elements from it, the cartoons were not regulated in the original Archie Comics cannon, as opposed to Sabrina's live-action show premise that did not know about magic before its sixth birthday mercy.

The series runs on ABC (also owned by Disney) and UPN. Following the series, the film, Sabrina: Friends Forever (2002) and the spin-off series, Sabrina's Secret Life (2003-2004), produced by DiC, this time without Disney ownership.

Premise

Unlike previous incarnations, Sabrina Spellman in this series is described as a 12-year-old student studying in high school. As in the original comic series, Sabrina lives with her two aunts, Hilda and Zelda Spellman, and her loud-mouthed cat, Salem Saberhagen, all of whom advise Sabrina to use magic.

Sabrina has previously appeared in animated format on The Archie Show (animation by Filmation), but the popularity of the sitcom Sabrina the Teenage Witch is part of the basis for the spin-off series this.

The series was developed by Savage Steve Holland and Kat Likkel, and Holland served as showrunner and executive producer of this series. Thus, this series reflects some of the disrespectful styles of humor seen at Eek! The Cat . The sound acting celebrities in this series include Mr. T, Long John Baldry, and "Weird Al" Yankovic.

Melissa Joan Hart, who plays Sabrina in the live-action sitcom, acts as the producer of this series, but her sister Emily Hart (who plays Amanda's recurring character on the sitcom) voiced Sabrina. Melissa even voiced the two aunts Sabrina, Hilda and Zelda, originally played by Beth Broderick and Caroline Rhea. Salem is voiced by Nick Bakay, who also voiced Salem in both live action films and series. The theme song is sung by B * Witched.
