Plot
Parents of twelve-year-old DJ Walters leave town for the weekend, leaving him in care of his nanny, Zee. The DJ has been spying on his elderly neighbor Horace Nebbercracker, who has confiscated any landing on his driveway. After the DJ's best friend, Charles "Chowder" lost his basketball on the Nebbercracker lawn, DJ was arrested by Nebbercracker trying to recover him, but the angry owner appeared to be suffering a heart attack and taken away by an ambulance. That night, DJ received a phone call from home without anyone on the other end. Overhearing Zee's girlfriend, Bones listens to him telling Zee about losing his kite on Nebbercracker's lawn when he was a kid and the Nebbercracker allegedly eating his wife. Later, Bones saw his kite at the door of Mr. Nebbercracker's house, but he took it home while taking it.
The next morning, a girl named Jenny Bennett sells Halloween candy. DJs and Chowder saw him go to Nebbercracker's house and hurried out to catch him before he was eaten by him. Jenny called the police but did not believe it.
All three sought advice from Reginald "Skull" Skulinski, a supposedly master of supernatural. They learn that the house is a rare monster created when the human soul merges with a man-made structure, and it can only be killed by breaking its heart. They concluded that the heart had to be a furnace and Chowder provided a doll containing cold medication that should have caused the house to sleep long enough for them to quench the stove. Police Officers Landers and Lester thwarted their plans and they were arrested when Landers discovered a cold drug stolen from the Chowder father's pharmacy inside the doll. When the officers went to check the house, they ate and the car where DJ, Chowder and Jenny had closed.
When the house is asleep, the children start exploring. In the basement they found a collection of toys collected from the Nebbercracker grass, as well as a door open to a temple containing the body of the Nebbercracker's wife, Constance the Giantess, wrapped in cement. The house realized that they were inside and attacked them. DJ, Chowder, and Jenny forced the house to spit it out by grabbing uvula. Nebbercracker arrives home alive, revealing that Constance's spirit is in the house and that he does not eat it but instead gives him some of the happiest moments of his life. As a young man, he meets Constance, who later becomes an undesirable circus member, and falls in love with him even though he is overweight. After he helped run away, they started building houses. One Halloween, when the children tortured him for his size, Constance tried to chase after them but lost his footing and fell to his death in the dungeon. Nebbercracker had finished the house, knew it was what he wanted, but realized that Constance's spirit made the house come alive, he pretended to hate the children to keep them away.
The DJ told Nebbercracker it was time to let Constance leave, but the house overheard this. Angry, it is free from its foundation and chases the group to the construction site. Nebbercracker tries to distract the house so he can dynamite, but the house notices and attacks him. Chowder fights with excavators and DJs are given dynamite. While Chowder distracted the house, DJ and Jenny climbed onto the crane and the DJ threw dynamite into the chimney so the house exploded. All three then see Nebbercracker with Constance's ghost before he disappears. The DJ apologized to Nebbercracker for the loss of his home and his wife, but Nebbercracker thanked the children for freeing him and his wife from being trapped for 45 years. That night, the children in their Halloween costumes line up at the location of the house, where DJ, Chowder and Jenny help return the toys to the owner. Jenny's mom picks her up and the DJ and Chowder do the trick-or-treat, which they once felt was too old for them. Those who are eaten by the house emerge from the dungeon.

Production
The film is taken using performance capture, in which the actors perform character movements while connected to the sensor, a process pioneered by Robert Zemeckis. The stereoscopic 3-D version of the movie is made and has a limited special release in the digital 3-D stereo along with the "flat" version. The album was released in about 200 theaters equipped for the latest REAL D Cinema stereoscopic 3D projection. The process is not based on film, but purely digital. Since the original source material is "built" in a 3-D virtual, it creates a very rich stereoscopic environment. For the release of the movie, the studio dubbed it Imageworks 3D .

This is a 3-D animated children's movie built on a classic gothic horror line, a joke, spooky Goonies for the new millennium. "He also gave it 4 out of 5 stars." Scott Bowles from USA Today watched, "This movie treats children with respect. Pre-adolescent Monster's is sarcastic, thinks they are smarter than their parents and go crazy over the opposite sex. "
Dissenting critics include Frank Lovece of Journal International, who praises director Gil Kenan as "a talent for watching" but scolds "the constantly changing internal logic.... The DJ's parents leave, and the house does not turns horribly in front of a teenage caregiver, Zee, but it turns horribly in front of his girlfriend, Bone. That does not turn horrible in front of two city cops until, in another scene, it is. "Todd McCarthy of Variety writes, fans of "Alert" Harry Potter "will see the script unashamedly lifting the main personality traits of JK Rowling's three most important characters to the main trio: Tall, dark-haired, serious-surprising DJ is Harry, semi-dufus Chowder is Ron and new cohort they, Jenny's smarty-pants prep school (Spencer Locke), are Hermione.... [i] t is a theme-park ride, with shocks and shocks provided with reliable regularity, but in 90 minutes the experience is not sensitive and hopeless and too urgent. "
In 2008, the American Film Institute nominated the film for a list of Top 10 Animation Movies.
