mystery & amp; b started as a combination of myGayTrip gay travel website and short-term apartment rental service, Sejourning. It was envisioned as a gay friendly alternative to Airbnb. Co-founder Matthieu Jost has been using services like Airbnb in the past with mixed results. Jost suggests that it is difficult to filter out potential hosts to see if they may be gay-friendly. After some unpleasant experiences, Jost looks for ways to start his own alternatives.
The website was launched in spring 2014. Since then, it has featured more than 5,000 hosts with rooms and apartments in over 95 countries, including over 600 vacation rentals in Spain and Portugal alone.
In 2015, fans & amp; b has 55,000 hosts in over 130 countries, making it the largest gay hotel hotel in the world.
