History
Copper has played an important role in architecture for thousands of years (see: copper in architecture). In the 3rd century BC, a copper shingle roof was installed over Lovamahapaya Temple in Sri Lanka. The Romans used copper as a roof cover for the Pantheon in 27 BC. Centuries later, the copper and its alloys were separated in medieval European architecture. Copper roof of St. Mary, Hildesheim, installed in 1280 AD, survived until its destruction during the bombings of World War II. The roof at Kronborg, one of the most important Renaissance castles in Northern Europe (immortalized as Elsinore Castle in Shakespeare's Hamlet ) was installed in 1585 A.D. Benefits
Metal roof can last up to 100 years, with the installer providing 50-year guarantee. Due to its long life, most metal roofs are cheaper than long-term asphalt roofs.

Coating
Several types of coatings are used on metal panels to prevent rust, provide waterproofing, or reflect heat. They are made of various materials such as epoxy and ceramic.
Ceramic coating can be applied to metal roofing material to add heat-reflective properties. Most ceramic coatings are made of ordinary paint with ceramic beads mixed as additives.
Coating is sometimes applied to copper. The clear layer retains the natural, warm, and tone metals of copper alloys. Oil does not include water vapor from copper roofs and flash and at the same time enhances their appearance by bringing rich luster and color depth. The most popular oils are lemon oil, US, lemongrass oil, Native E.I., paraffin oil, linseed oil, and castor oil. On the roof or flashing of copper, repeated application every three years can effectively inhibit the formation of patina. The opaque paint layer is mainly applied on top of copper when the substrate integrity and long life are desired but certain colors apart from the natural copper color are required. Copper-coated copper coatings are used when the appearance of the exposed lead is desired or where water runoff from uncoated copper alloys will usually stain the lighter colored building materials, such as marble, limestone, plastering, mortar or concrete. Zinc-tin coatings are an alternative to lead coating because they have the same appearance and working ability.
