Mat Mania - The Prowrestling Network , known in Japan as Fun Hour - The Prowrestling Network (< span lang = "ja"> ??????????????????? ) , or just as Mat Mania or Fun Hour ( ?????????? ) , is a 1985 Japan-themed pro arcade game developed by Techn's Japan and published by Taito. This is the spiritual successor to the 1983 Tag-Team Wrestling arcade game, also developed by Techn's Japan, but published by Data East. It's also ported to the PS4 console by 2015.
This game is played by one or two players (alternating turns). It is recognized among gaming enthusiasts as the first of a genre that has reached a high level of playback. Furthermore, the aesthetics of the game, the concept of sprite & amp; designs, theme music in the game, and funny presentations have been well lent in preserving it as a beloved arcade classic.

Gameplay
The game is presented in disguise as a pro-wrestling broadcast aired on television, the Taito Wrestling Association (Technos Wrestling Association in the Japanese version). The next intro and intermission sequence depicts a cluttered pro-wrestling host, Cory ( Dari in the Japanese version). Her hair was disheveled and her sleeve rolled up as she manually announced the special things of the upcoming battle.
Players control the wrestlers who successfully qualify for the TWA ranks, challenging colorful thematic opponents, before finally challenging the champions in the fifth game. After climbing into the championships, players are presented with a championship belt in the presentation ceremony. Players must defend their titles against the previous five opponents, taken at random.

Character
Player/Dynamite Tommy
The player-controlled wrestler may be modeled after The Dynamite Kid. Called only "YOU" on Exciting Hour and Mat Mania, he's nicknamed Dynamite Tommy (real name Dynamite Kid is Tom Billington) at Mania Challenge . However, there are signs of being held in the crowd reading FIGHT TOMMY and TOMMY GREAT, and since all challengers have names, Tommy's name can only refer to the unnamed. player character. She sports furry brown hair and wears blue pants and white boots. Various maneuvers include: High blow and kick, and shoulder block from a standing position; from Headlock, Irish Whip, Body Slam, Piledriver, and Vertical Suplex; on the running opponent, the fall of the Reverse body, Sikutan Sakti, Clothes, or Jump Jump Back; on a falling opponent, a running Body Splash, or, from turnbuckle, Sunset Flip or Knee Drop. The player controlled Wrestler was formed after the players "Babyface" at that time.
Crazy Fighters
Named as Insane Worrier in Fun Hour . Released after Punk/Barbarian themed artists popular and popular in the 80s (especially Road Warrior Animal). Characteristically, served with Mohawk hairstyles, black loose trousers and heavy makeup. Thus, his maneuver is limited to unskilled clubbing blows and Gorilla Press Body Slam as his final step. Also, unique from other opponents in that case he clamps player-controlled wrestlers with just one hand. He has the Smash and Elbow Hairball Players.
Karate Fighter
A wrestler with the theme of martial arts. Her dress, Manchu-style trousers and sandals show something wrong - Kung Fu Fighter seems more appropriate. Usually maneuvers include fast, kicking attacks, jump kicks, and karate chops (used as a normal grip and also as a finishing step). Her hair was pebbly and covered her face, suggesting inspirational possibilities by The Great Kabuki, Chopsocky, or renowned martial artists such as Bruce Lee and Bolo Yeung. In the introductory sequence he is described with what appears to be a collection of nunchaku; However, this weapon is not used during the actual games. He is the only opponent who does not have a player's moves. The Karate Fighter character concept is then adapted by Technos for the Taimei Chin character which is featured in the NES Double Dragon version.
Coco Savage
Named as Coco Savege in Hours of Fun . A "Wild Man" wrestler themed, obviously inspired by Bobo Brasil. Pictured wearing Leopard's skin and barefoot, he's unique from the other opponents because his attacking style is very fast. He did not hit or kick; on the contrary, he is the only opponent who uses the shoulder block, the same is used by the Player. His unorthodox and unpredictable fighting styles include shoulder blades, coconut (blow to head while above head), Mongolian Chop and Giant Swing Throw as a finishing move, as well as Body Splash on fallen opponents. He is quite possibly the hardest opponent to beat in the game.
Pirania
A wrestler themed "r̮'̼do" themed after Mil Mascaras, who often uses masks with shark's tooth design. Pirania uses illegal tactics, such as choking, and cheating to win his game. He has a trap back of that player. He also uses Clawhold, performed after whipping the Player off the rope, which drops the Player to his knee immediately. Perhaps his most effective, and most embarrassing, move involves suspending the Player on a mat by grabbing his hair with one hand, and illegally gouging it out with the other. He also uses the elbow drop as his final step.
Golden Hulk
Named as Blues Bloody in Hours of Fun . The TWA World Champion, who uses his strength and skill to defeat his opponent, is clearly inspired by All Wrestling Pro Japan star Bruiser Brody. In some versions of the game, the world champions are transformed into more Hulk-like Hogan to reflect the rise of Hogan's popularity, although the shoe's character (a la Brody) remains intact. He was named as Golden Hulk at Mat Mania for US licensing purposes, possibly to exploit Hulk Hogan's popular attraction in that market. He uses "Legdrop of Doom" Hogan as the finisher. He also has a Player's Body Slam (performed one-armed - another tribute to Brody) and Elbow Smash, plus Dropkick, whose player character is later earned at the Mania Challenge .

Atari released the Atari 7800 version of Mat Mania titled, Mat Mania Challenge This version is faithful in some aspects like graphics and control. However, it is poorly reviewed by most magazines and game players for losing all the criminal characters (due to the amount of low memory cartridges known to Atari). Atari describes this version as a cross between Mat Mania and Mania Challenge , since this game features Dynamite Tommy and Hurricane Joe. The version for Atari XE Game System is also planned but never released. Copies of the prototype of the Atari XEGS version were once available for a limited time sale through the old Atari B & C ComputerVisions.
Challenge Mania
Mania Challenge is the latest version of Mat Mania released in 1986, a year after the original. The main difference between that and the original is the addition of a competitive mode of two players. The first player takes control of the main character of the original game, now called Tommy Dynamite, while the second player controls a new character named Hurricane Joe, who plays identically with Tommy. The Mania Challenge also features some challenger techniques to the player moveset of Mat Mania like racing headlocks with atomic drops or suplex kicks, or dropping kicks. However, the character list is reduced to just three opponents in single player mode: Crazy Warrior, Golden Hulk and other computer-controlled player characters (Dynamite Tommy or Hurricane Joe); repeat the three opponents in the next round.
