Dog daycare , often known as "boggy doggy daycare", refers to short-term daytime care for dogs. It shares many similarities with regular childcare for children, with the exception being that puppy daycare is for canine teeth. It fills a niche between multi-day kennel and pet sitting, where a sitter comes to a pet's home. Both share the same philosophy. Parents, or in the case of puppy care, owners, have busy schedules and frequent long working hours drastically reduce the time spent with children or their pets.

The popularity of such companies in the United States and elsewhere has grown tremendously since the early 1990s, and has emerged from the more traditional kennel industry. Before World War II, dogs more often live outside in the United States, but because of the urbanization of spreading dogs began to live inside the house more often. Other factors, including an increase in the adult population without children, are gradually causing more attention and money to be spent on pets. The first modern dog treatment in New York City, Yuppie Puppy Pet Care was reportedly opened in 1987, by Joseph S. Sporn. San Francisco, another rich American city, is also credited for spurring the trend of dog care.

Environments
There are several neighborhoods and various puppy care services. For example, some facilities provide a cage-free environment in which dogs play under the supervision of a trained staff member. Other facilities can provide a free cage environment for dogs playing for a portion of the day, placing dogs in cages at other times during the day. Kennel daycare is a type of facility that offers a cage or walk where the dog will be placed alone during the day.
Some facilities allow dogs to play in the outdoor environment. Others only have indoor facilities, where dogs interact and play in indoor areas and free themselves in the areas specified inside.
