The Black Cat ( Felicia Hardy ) is a fictitious character that appears in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Throughout its history, Black Cat has become an enemy, flower love, and ally of the Spider-Man superhero. Created by author Marv Wolfman and artist Dave Cockrum, he first appeared at The Amazing Spider-Man # 194 (July 1979).
Felicia Hardy is the daughter of Walter Hardy, a world-renowned cat thief. After experiencing a traumatic experience as a freshman, he trained himself in various fighting and acrobat styles and, after deciding to follow in his father's footsteps, adopted a Black Cat costume identity. As a Black Cat, he has the unconscious ability to influence the field of probability, producing "bad luck" for his enemies. His initial character was the supervillain and Spider-Man enemy, but over time both fell in love, which motivated him to become his antiheroine and partner. However, their relationship becomes complicated after it becomes clear that Black Cat is only interested in Spider-Man alter ego and has little interest in the civilian life of heroes as Peter Parker. After they broke up, Black Cat retained his role as one of Spider-Man's most trusted allies and over the years, the couple shared a romantic story again, before finally returning to his criminal ways.
Being part of his supporting cast and one of his love interests, Black Cat has been featured in many Spider-Man media-related adaptations.

In 1979, creator Marv Wolfman was looking for a female foil for Spider-Woman. He decided to base his character on the Tex Avery cartoon "Bad Luck Blackie", in which a black cat brings misfortune to anyone who is nearby. Black Cat costumes and looks are designed by Dave Cockrum.
When Wolfman changed the writing assignment in Marvel Comics to The Amazing Spider-Man, he brought his character with him. He and Cockrum made major changes to his character and appearance all along; The Black Cat intended to debut on Spider-Woman only has the same name and power that eventually appears on The Amazing Spider-Man. At the bottom of the The Amazing Spider-Man page 194, a thumbnail of the cover meant for Spider-Woman # 9 appears along with the rejected cover for The Amazing Spider-Man # 194. Wolfman said in an interview, "I do not plan Black Cat to be in Spidey I made it for Spider-Woman (see the letter column of the first BC story and you'll see.) decided to leave Spider -Woman and move it, so I never even thought of Catwoman when I did it.I got the idea for her from Tex Avery cartoon, Bad Luck Blackie. "
Writer/director Kevin Smith began writing Spider-Man/Black Cat: The Evil Men Men Do miniseries in 2002. After the third edition the series went on hiatus until 2005, when Smith revealed he finally finished writing the script. Smith has stated, "Although I have no defense for my delays (especially when people like Bendis change great stories in several books every month), I would say this: this is a much better story now than it will be I resolved it in '02. "
In the mid-2000s, he starred alongside Wolverine in a limited comic book entitled Claws . The sequel to this miniseries, titled Claws II , began publishing in July 2011. Black Cat is the main character in the 2006-2007 series Heroes for Hire .

Fictional character biography
Felicia Hardy was born in Queens, New York. His father, Walter, pretended to be a traveling merchant, but was a world-renowned cat thief who, before his capture, encouraged him to never be content with the second best. If he loves basketball, he has to work to be a basketball player and not just a cheerleader.
In Black Spider-Man/Black Cat: The Evil that Men Do, Black Cat himself revealed that as a freshman at Empire State University, he was raped by his girlfriend, Ryan. Hating the idea of ââbecoming a victim, he trained himself in various fighting and acrobatic styles, intent on killing a rapist. Finally, after months of preparing, he set out to take revenge, but before he could find him, Ryan was killed in a drunk driving accident. Angered that he was denied the opportunity to take revenge, Hardy decided to utilize his new skills to follow in his father's footsteps. After accumulating a wealth of stolen goods, Felicia adopted her costumed identity.
She first wore a Black Cat costume to break her father from jail. That same night, he meets Spider-Man. His father died, and he then falsified his own death. Despite antipathy towards men, Felicia feels a kinship with this single hero; Spider-Man was the first man he felt he could trust and he grew to believe that he fell in love with her. Felicia looks for ways to gain her trust and continues with the Black Cat persona as the wrong attempt to get her attention. Seeing goodness in Felicia, Spider-Man makes every effort to remove his criminal record.
Felicia was placed in a mental institution but escaped. He joined the Spider-Man team against Maggia. He was given a conditional amnesty, and once again convinced Spider-Man that he had died.
The Black Cat finally found an opportunity to prove himself after knowing Kingpin controls a very powerful detonator. Owl plans to use weapons to hold hostages New York City. Meanwhile, Doctor Octopus plans to use weapons to destroy the city altogether. However, Black Cat uses its ability to steal items first and protect it from all sides. He gives the detonator to Spider-Man and becomes the target of the Octopus Doctor's revenge. Although Spider-Man ripped apart its mechanical appendages, Octopus was still able to control them mentally and hold the Black Cat while the soldiers fired shots. Spider-Man barely took him to the hospital on time and because they were operating with dozens of bullet wounds and knives, Peter realized how much he cared about Felicia.
After he recovers, they start a relationship and soon Peter reveals his identity to him. Felicia had trouble accepting the fact that Peter was only a man under the mask and could not understand his need for civilian life. Peter was injured, but continued the relationship because it was the first time he did not have to hide his life as Spider-Man from someone.
Initially, the "accidents" that seemed to befall those who crossed the Black Cat line were only well-planned actions and traps. After his near death experience, Felicia fears the lack of superpowers make him the responsibility of Spider-Man. He is afraid that his extraordinary need to protect him will eventually get him killed, so Felicia looks for ways to make himself like Spider-Man. Felicia offered the opportunity to undergo the same process used to create Scorpion and Human Fly. The Kingpin uses it on the Black Cats in retaliation for his theft. Frightened and ashamed of being empowered by criminal Kingpin, he keeps the secret of his new ability from Peter. The power of 'bad luck' turns out to be contagious, and begins to bring bad luck Spider-Man, which is exactly what Kingpin intends. Feeling there's a secret wall growing between them, Spider-Man broke up with Felicia. Felicia then begins "Robin Hood Crusade," stealing from the rich to give to the poor.
Peter soon realizes something is wrong with his own luck and asks Doctor Strange for help to remove the "hex" to him. Thus, he changed the source hex and changed the power of the Black Cat in the process. He finds that he has the power, agility, balance, sight, and claw that can be drawn. While robbing a mercenary known as a Stranger, the Black Cats were attacked by Sabretooth, a stranger's assassin; Spider-Man saved his life.
The Black Cat renewed his views and his attitude and revived his relationship with Spider-Man. He reconciles with his need for a normal life like Peter Parker and stands beside him when he is accused of being a Spider-Man killer. Together, they trace the source of a complicated scheme to trap him and fight the Strangers. Spider-Man came to the house to find the Black Cat discussing his plan to ruin his life. He follows her to find she has never forgiven him for breaking up with him and as revenge for being a Foreigner's lover. His apartment was set on fire by Blaze's assassin, and he started living with Peter Parker. During his trick against Peter and despite his anger, Felicia begins to fall back to his desire to love him. Spider-Man then found his relationship with the Stranger. He cleansed Spider-Man of murder charges. In the end, the Black Cat doubled the Stranger and went to Paris to find a new life, which prompted Peter to seek new support and relationships with Mary Jane Watson.
Years later, Black Cat returned to America, and went "shopping" (actually shoplifting) with Dagger. He returns to his original costume, searches for Peter Parker, and in the occasion of confrontation with Venom knows that Peter has married Mary Jane Watson. Angry and jealous, Felicia begins to harass the couple, mocking Peter by dating his friend, Flash Thompson. He physically threatened Mary Jane, confronted her and vowed to ruin their marriage. He keeps the Spider-Man powerless from Scorpion, but then all his power is made silent by one of Chameleon's devices. He realizes that he really cares for Thompson, but when he proposes he refuses her, saying that he's only interested in her because he is his ex-boyfriend, Spider-Man. The Black Cat then formed Spider-Man and Mary Jane, became close friends with them. After Spider-Man uses the device to remove its superhuman abilities, Black Cat helps him find the device again to restore it. In the process, a capability like a Black Cat cat is completely erased. He then purchased equipment from Tinkerer to put in his costume to compensate for his lost abilities, and occasionally joined Spider-Man.
After Spider-Man unmasked himself, Black Cat was furious that he felt that they were sharing a bond over knowing his identity. Although she is dating Thomas Fireheart (a.k.a. Puma), her new sexual interest notes that Felicia may still have some romantic tendencies towards Peter.
Black Cat joined the new Hero for Hire during the Civil War even though Misty Knight believes that Felicia is only there for the money.
Marvel Divas
Black Cat is back in the limited series, Marvel Divas (a parody of Sex and the City ). He is one of the main characters, along with Firestar, Hellcat, and Photon. The authors are Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Tonci Zonjic. Called by his friends to overcome Firestar's breast cancer, Felicia is financially corrupted: unable to restart his investigative company, he is too proud to receive Puma's financial aid, and his efforts to get a loan are filled with open hostility from New York banks, often targeting his evil activity as the Black Cat. Thus, feeling rejected and angry, Felicia begins to consider returning to the criminal.
Following the Marvel Divas , Black Cat returns as a recurring character in The Amazing Spider-Man , following the storyline in # 606-607 entitled "Back in Black Cat". Though he remembers his previous encounter with Spider-Man, the event "One More Day" has erased his memory of his identity. Also, he has regained the strength of his "bad luck".
Spider-Man ran into the Black Cat as he walked into Dexter Bennett's penthouse apartment. Spider-Man catches him, reminding him that he's the one who dumped him. He and Puma end their relationship, so he and Spider-Man share a kiss, and then they sleep with the lights off, so Felicia can not see Peter's face. After this meeting Peter and Felicia started sexual intercourse. Peter then asks Black Cat for help getting his blood vial from Mister Negative.

Felicia agrees to surrender to Kravinoff in exchange for her mother's freedom, but instead sends the bait while she traces her mother and tries to free herself. After removing the tape from her mother's mouth, Felicia discovers that Kravinoff has tied the explosive device to her wrist to kill both of them. Felicia was finally able to save her mother and keep her safe from the clutches of the Kravinoff family.
Mary Jane sought the help of the Black Cats after Spider-Man was captured by Doc Tramma, who turned out to be the one who restored Felicia's bad powers. Together they managed to defeat Tramma and save Spider-Man, and agreed to become friends afterwards. The Black Cat is further seen in the "Big Time" storyline that helps Spider-Man take on some experimental vibrans that were stolen by the new Hobgoblin for Kingpin.
Spider-Island
Black Cat appeared on the island's spider story arc, fighting a half-spider creature, when Heroes for Hire was called in to help quarantine Manhattan.
After that, Black Cat was blamed for the theft of Holographic Projectors from Horizon Labs. Since Spider-Man was with him at the time of the robbery, he knew that he was innocent, and he recruited Matt Murdock (a.k.a. Daredevil) to help prove his innocence. He later revealed that the Black Specter criminal organization framed him to test him as part of their plan to recruit Black Cat to their side and offer a large cash prize to pick up Matt Murdock's device. After that he went to Matt's apartment and they started a relationship that was part of his plan. But he betrayed the Black Specters and told Daredevil, leaving a note that the organization is monitoring his actions, before hiding. Marvel_NOW.21 "> Marvel NOW!
As part of Marvel's event NOW! , Felicia is then contacted by his friend, Misty Knight, to assist the Defenders of Fear against what is called Doom Maidens along with other female heroes such as Storm, Tigra, Hellcat, and Valkyrie.
Superior Spider-Man (mind Doctor Octopus' in Peter Parker's body) swayed on his patrol to another date with his girlfriend Anna Maria Marconi just to meet the Black Cat, who did the robbery. Felicia tried to tease, but suddenly, the Superior Spider-Man attacked him by punching him directly into his face that took teeth in the process. Superior Spider-Man goes on to reminisce how he tried to kill him, but now he only catches him as a villain. This made Felicia really shocked and angry when she swore revenge after the Superior Spider-Man wrapped it in a wicker.
Following the conclusions of the The Superior Spider-Man storyline that returned the real Spider-Man, the Black Cat then escaped at the start of the new Amazing Spider-Man series when Electro staged a breakout in a jail where he was arrested. Determined to regain his position by defeating Spider-Man, he attacked him as he tried to evacuate the burning building, forcing Spider-Man to pretend it was still Doctor Octopus to oust him because he could not afford to lose time saving civilians. Felicia then made contact with Electro, indicating that they were collaborating on revenge on Spider-Man. Black Cat is at Parker Industries, noting all the technology they produce today. But he did not understand it, and chose to 'steal' someone who did it. Sajani has had enough of Peter's continuous disappearances and promises to get Peter to see how he handles everything without his help. Black Cat then pulls her away, commenting on her perfect timing. Black Cat and Electro then attack Eel's hideout where he has Electro who defeated him. Black Cat and Electro then appear at a meeting between Mister Negative and Phil Urich (who now leads the remnants of the Goblin King as a self-proclaimed Goblin King) where they throw Eel's body between them. Black Cat told Mister Negative and Phil Urich that he had heard about how they were defeated by Spider-Man and wanted their plan. During Peter's interview on Fact Channel, Electro attacks the security team on the channel and Black Cat arrives announcing his request that if Spider-Man does not show up in fifteen minutes, Peter will die. Electro complains about the plan but Black Cat insists that Spider-Man will appear, but then Silk arrives to face both, giving Peter time to transform into Spider-Man and jump into action, calling Silk. As he fights against Electro and Spider-Man deals with the Black Cat, J. Jonah Jameson remains on the channel that forces the cameraman to film the action. Spider-Man tries to convince Black Cat to stop even when he does not believe his story about brainstorming. Black Cat deviates one of the Electro bolts hitting Spider-Man, dropping it in the process. Black Cat tries to unmask Spider-Man when Jameson directs the camera, Jameson's corner prevents anyone seeing Spider-Man's face long enough for Silk to hit the Black Cat back and Spider-Man to put his mask back on. Although Electro accepts that he loses power when his uncontrollable ability proves dangerous even for himself, Black Cat continues his grudge against Spider-Man regardless of who is behind the mask. After Electro's depowerment, the villains in the Bar with No Name want Black Cat to lead them.

After that he and Spider-Man settled, and then Eddie Brock convinced Black Cat to surrender into a crime boss and return to being a vigilante.
Strength and ability
Initially, the Black Cat did not have superhuman abilities. Later, the test induced by Kingpin gave him a psionic ability to influence the field of probability; in essence, he can produce "bad luck" for his enemies. The "unlucky" power requires that under pressure he is unconsciously capable of causing anyone around him whom he feels as a threat prone to strange accidents, such as speeding and exploding, or tripping over objects. This ability also has side effects that eventually cause problems for anyone who spends a long time around it.
Doctor Strange ultimately destroys his strength which briefly removes his poor abilities, along with unwanted side effects. However, this magic disorder temporarily gives her a cat-like talent, giving her night vision, claws that can be pulled at her fingertips, super velocity, strength, agility and endurance, comparable to a cat. The power of "bad luck" was finally restored by Doc Tramma through the use of cybernetics.
Black Cat has Olympic-level reflexes, agility, and stamina levels. He is physically very strong and athletic and has great physical endurance. He is an excellent street warrior capable of taking on multiple armed attackers and paralyzing them without hurting himself. He is trained in several styles of martial arts. Hardy is a talented photographer; when dating Spider-Man he takes a picture of a hero he admits is better than his own.
Black Cat also acquired several devices from Tinkerer that increase its agility and increase its power. She wears earrings that interact with her brain balance center to give her improved agility. He has contact lenses that allow him to view various ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum, such as infrared and ultraviolet. The costumes contain micro-servos which increase their strength above the normal human level. The costume glove contains a micro-filament steel, which forms claws pulled at the fingertips as he flexes his fingers (triggering a magnetic spike that condenses the filament into polarized claws) allowing him to tear off most of the surface and the wall of the easy scale. Using this equipment, the Black Cat has been able to defeat enemies with super abilities.
The Black Cat has a miniature hook device hidden inside the "feather" of each glove, designed by his father Walter Hardy, which allows him to swing from the building in a way similar to Spider-Man, though not so fast. He can also use the cable from this device as a strap, wall gauge, swing line, or as a weapon in combat.
Reception
Black Cat ranked as the 152th largest comic book figure of all time by the magazine Wizard . He ranks 24th in the list of "Top 25 Spider-Man Villains", and 27 on the list of Buyers Comic Book "100 Girls In Lives in Comics".

After completing his mission to Kingpin, he claims to have permanently disabled the mechanism, but whether he holds his word or not remains to be seen. He still fire the old Spider-Man, but in the storyline of New Mangaverse (with Spider-Man having chosen Mary Jane Watson on it) he tries to continue, and now shows a romantic interest in Wolverine though at the end of the Story Story it is clear that he has a hidden agenda because he was later seen with Nick Fury.

A Black Cat Zombified is briefly seen battling against Iron Fist. He hit the hole straight in front of him.
However, somehow (in Marvel Zombies: Dead Days) during the event set after her appearance (which occurred in Marvel Zombies vs. The Army of Darkness), she appears alive and well, also not infected on any of the SHIELD Operators.
When asked about this during Joe Friday 100, Joe Q explains that "the MZ world is not exactly like the usual Marvel Universe." Our captain is their "American Colonel." Like most incarnations, Felicia has a relationship with Spider-Man Noir. The Crime Master cut him down when he found out about this, but before he passed out, he told the FBI that he was in league with Otto Octavius ââand his inhumane experiments. The last panel of the series shows him with a mask similar to Madame Masque, angrily refusing to see Spider-Man because he blames him for his scar.
During the Spider-Verse storyline, he was attacked by Kingpin and his men in hopes of extracting Spider-Man identity, but without losing anything, he remained silent. He was later used as a hostage to lure Spider-Man in accepting the Mysterio challenge. After the battle, he will secretly take the blood of Spider-Man taken earlier to avoid falling into the hands of Mysterio.
He will then appear to treat Spider-Man Noir (accompanied by Silk and Spider-Woman) while escaping from Inheritors.
Spider-Man Likes Mary Jane
Felicia Hardy made her appearance in the # 17 issue of the series. She is a teenager who moved to the same high school attended by Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson. Felicia is considered "bad luck" because of her harsh past and her confrontational personality. She plays with Flash and challenges her boyfriend, Liz Allan, to a fight, which is just a hoax to build her reputation as a girl who will not be humiliated.
Supernaturalals
A different version of Felicia Hardy is part of a team led by Brother Voodoo. Unlike his 616 counterpart, this Black Cat version has an enchanted vocal ability that enables him to change the outcome of events by speaking certain phrases aloud. (For example, at one point, saying "Break" caused a flicking rope.) This ability proved useless after Jack O'Lantern's tape covered Felicia's mouth.
Ultimate Marvel
In the world of Ultimate Marvel, Black Cat is Felicia Hardy, a young woman who blames her father's death on Wilson Fisk, Kingpin. Seeking revenge, he stole invaluable tablets that he would use on his comatose wife. Kingpin hired Assassin Elektra to pick it up. When Black Cat throws it into the port, Elektra throws one of the sai into the Black Cat's chest, sending the thief to the shore. He is considered dead, although no bodies are found.
He then returns during the gang war, stopping Hammerhead from shooting Spider-Man at the right temple. He then expressed interest in working for Hammerhead if it meant getting rid of Kingpin even though Spider-Man opposed this. He then helps Hammerhead and Elektra in confrontations against Moon Knight, Shang-Chi, Iron Fist, and Spider-Man.
Then, after the crisis was over, he excitedly kissed Spider-Man through his mask, his previous interest in him growing stronger. He apparently does not know the age difference between him and Peter, and mistakenly assumes, after he left in a hurry, that he is a married man. When he managed to unmask it and realize how young he was, he was beaten back. The shock and embarrassment of such an invention caused him to vomit in his costume. He looks next to try to kill Kingpin. However, Mysterio beat him. He then attempts to steal the Zodiac Key from Kingpin's vault. Mysterio, knowing that it contained great power, tried to steal it from him. Felicia tries to hope Mysterio goes, but instead she inadvertently causes the key to creating a huge explosion. Surprised by what he did, he handed it to Mysterio. Spider-Man came to the scene with Iron Man. Mysterio conquered Iron Man and then Spider-Man, Mysterio, and Felicia then fought over the keys. Spider-Man wins and then he and Felicia decide to help the people who are caught in the middle of Felicia's mistakes.
In this version, Black Cat actually has short brunette hair, but wears a white-haired wig as part of the costume.

She has a concert in New York with Mary Jane as an opening act that she invites Murdock with the intention to kill her. While there, Murdock releases the Hands where he is defended by Spider-Woman. When he tried to kill Matt, Spider-Woman dropped him.
What If?
In the story line What If? What if Alien Costume has Possessed Spider-Man? After the symbiote formed a permanent bond with Spider-Man because Mister Fantastic was unable to check the web-slinger until it was too late to separate them, Felicia went on a brief crime spree until she learned that the symbiote - which here lives with the adrenaline of the superhuman - has left Spider-Man who is now dead for his good. of the Hulk; He preferred to kill the Hulk rather than object to other heroes. After the Spider-Man funeral, he was contacted by Kingpin, who helped him develop a weapon that would kill symbiote instead of a lifetime of service from him; Though heroes have defeated the symbiote thanks to Thor and Black Bolt's actions, with Doctor Strange about to oust him, Felicia kills the symbiote, then scolds the heroes for not knowing the price he should pay to ensure justice is over.
