Welcome to Bizarro World â€
src: anewscafe.com

The Bizarro World (also known as Htrae , which is "Earth" spelled backwards) is a fictional planet that appears in American comic books published by DC Comics. Introduced in the early 1960s, htraE is a cube-shaped planet, home to Bizarro and friends, all of which were originally Bizarro versions of Superman, Lois Lane and their children and, later, other Bizarros including Batzarro, World's Worst Detective.

In popular culture, "The World of Bizarro" means a situation or setting that is strangely reversed or contrary to expectations.

History

In the world of Bizarro "Htrae", people are ruled by the Bizarro Code which states "We do the opposite of all worldly things! We hate beauty! We like evil! It is a great crime to make something perfect in the Bizarro World!" In one episode, for example, a salesperson trades quickly selling Bizarro bonds: "Guaranteed to lose money for you". Then, the mayor appointed Bizarro No. 1 to investigate the crime, "Because you are more stupid than all Bizarro police forces put together". It is intended and taken as a great compliment.

Originally a normal planet, htraE is now cube-shaped. This is due to Superman's intervention, which - after being found guilty of doing something perfect in htrae, which is usually a capital offense - shows that the planet is shaped like a normal spheroid and agrees to make a cube if the penalty is alleviated..

Then the story introduces the Bizarro version of Superman supporting players, including Bizarro-Perry White, Bizarro-Jimmy Olsen, Bizarro-Morgan Edge, Bizarro-Lucy Lane, Bizarro-Lana Lang and Bizarro-Krypto, created using duplicator rays on characters other than Superman and Lois Lane, as well as the children of Bizarro and Bizarro Lois. There are even Bizarro-Justice League and Legion of Super-Heroes: Bizarro League and Legion Stupor-Heroes. Bizarro-Batman is wearing the Kesiawahan Belt full of cigarette butts, chewing gum, and other priceless Bizarro treasures. The Yellow Lantern does not have the power of the helpless Ring, vulnerable to anything that is green and is the most feared creature in the universe. Bizarro-Aquaman can not swim. There's even Bizarro-Marilyn Monroe, the ugliest of them all.

"Tales of the Bizarro World" became a recurring segment at Adventure Comics for fifteen issues from author Jerry Siegel and artist John Forte, running from issue # 285-299 (June 1961-August 1962). Animated Blue Kryptonite golems once erupted from the surface of Htrae, determined to defeat Bizarros and be encouraged by Bizarro Loises.

Despite their differences, Bizarro and Superman have worked together on several occasions. One notable example occurred in Superman # 379, when strange creatures appeared to devour Bizarros. Worried he would end up alone Bizarro trying to steal Superman's duplicate rays. Superman assures Bizarro that he's better off trying to stop the monster before making Bizarros again. The creature eventually devoured Bizarro, but Superman soon discovered that the creature was not trying to kill Bizarros, but used their combined force to defeat another creature that tried to destroy the htrae. The first creature was created as part of a plan developed by none other than Bizarro Lex Luthor, whom Bizarro calls a "punk hero."

In an imaginary story, Superman: What Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? , which serves as the end of Silver Age Superman continuity, Bizarro # 1 (original Bizarro and world leader/greatest hero), is influenced by Mr. Mxyzptlk is now evil. Realizing that to truly fulfill the Bizarro Code, he must cease to be a "perfect perfect duplicate" of Superman and become a "perfect perfect duplicate" of Superman, Bizarro decided to change his method accordingly. To that end, Bizarro # 1 deliberately destroyed the Bizarro World, arguing that if Superman's homeworld (Krypton) was destroyed in an accident, Bizarro had to destroy his own world intentionally.

Bizarro's final "Crisis look at DC Comics Presents # 97 (September 1986), which is also the last edition of the series. After being empowered by a terrible Phantom Zone wizard, Mr. Mxyzptlk destroys Zrfff and then causes the Bizarro World to explode, killing all its inhabitants. Bizarros is acting unbelievably crazy in this account, with Bizarro # 1 rocketing his son to the core of the crumbling planet so he will surely die!

It has been determined that there is no future "set" for Earth-One to be the story of World's Finest where it is revealed that sometime in the future, Htrae transforms into a more normal (egg-shaped, cubic) world by radiation from the exploding celestial body it is possible only the future . Bizarroes turns into people who do not have normal power as well, but still retain their Bizarro legal remnants (curtains hanging outside the windows of houses, etc.)

After Crisis on Infinite Earths, John Byrne Man of Steel miniseri reboots Superman's continuum. The editors and writers did not reintroduce the Bizarro World on reboot. Then, in Superman 2 (volume 2) # 87, the second Bizarro Post Crisis clone creates a "Bizarro World" which is a warehouse made to look like a surreal Metropolis.

The Bizarro world does appear in this era's story in 1998 The Giant 80-Page Comic Adventure by author Tom Peyer and artist Kevin O'Neill. There, Bizarro sued a technician at a SETI installation-like broadcasting his diary. Having no choice, the technician inspects the diary, which retells the story of classical cube Bizarro World backwards. Superman accidentally found himself there and, in order to dispel people's fears about him, continued "constructive tantrums." The original Bizarro, aka Bizarro # 1, went to Earth and tried to stop Superman with the help of his friends. However, when other Bizarros try to kill Superman, # 1 stops them, saying that killing is a worldly thing that they must, above all, do the opposite of. Realizing that, however strange the Bizarro World is, its residents are safer and happier than Earth thanks to the leadership of Bizarro # 1, Superman apologizes. To show his sincerity he hid a copy of the Bizarro Code where no one would see it. The guys held the honor parade # 1 and with their beloved wife Bizarro Lois # 1 and their son, Bizarro Junior # 1 by his side, Bizarro cried saying "I am... the happiest creature in the universe." When the technician finished reading his story, he saw Bizarro disappear and, horrified, asked - what if the journal itself is no exception to the Bizarro Code? Elsewhere, the truth is revealed; Bizarro, who has no home and no family and is insulted by Superman, weeps because he is the saddest thing in the universe.

The unique Earth-shaped Earth Bizarro World briefly appears on the pages of Infinite Crisis in addition to other Earths in outer space. The close-up view, labeled Earth-0, shows where a smiling Bizarro is choking a smiling Bizarro-Lois, with Bizarros Hawkman, Jimmy Olsen, and Perry White standing next to and laughing. Similarly, in the present New 52 DC Multiverse, a cube-shaped Earth 29 appears, although it is surrounded by a ring. This may or may not be a further repetition of the Bizarro World.

A cube-shaped planet, populated by various Bizarros, is found orbiting the blue sun by the Thanagarian patrol vessel.

Bizarro captures Jonathan Kent and takes him to a cube-shaped world, prompting Superman to follow him.

The DC Universe Halloween Special 2009 features some stories featuring Bizarro World. The opening shows Bizarro reads a comic book to many Bizarro men and women spectators who are dressed in halloween costumes. All members of the audience are bound and gagged, implying that they are being read to oppose their wishes contrary to traditional practice of gathering to hear the story. Another story reveals that Halloween in Bizarro World involves trick-or-treater giving fruit to the homes they visit. The last story also reveals that Bizarro works in Bizarro's version of the Daily Planet, and also shows Bizarro versions of staff members like Jimmy Olsen and Cat Grant.

Superman # 695 has a Bizarro who escaped from Mon-El after the battle. In Bizarro-speaking, Bizarro informs the hero that he retreats to Bizarro World, and claims that he will soon return with Bizarro Mon-El to help him defeat the real one. This story was never followed up, because Mon-El was sent to the Phantom Zone shortly after this meeting.

The Bizarro world was spotted again a few months later at Supergirl 55. In it, Bizarro Supergirl (not the deliberately made in Superman # 140) recounted his origins, revealing that he was bound , clogged and locked inside a spaceship sent from a cube-shaped world to Earth after it was attacked by what is known as Godship. This problem ends with a modern Supergirl, Kara Zor-El, heading for Bizarro World to free him from Godship.

In the Multiversity Grant Morrison series, htraE has allocated its own alternate universe and is now also known as Earth-29. As well as the imperfect inorganic equivalent of the Earth-0 core superhero, it retains its cubic shape, although it now has a ring as well. Other planets in the universe are also cube-shaped - Narr (Rann-29), Raganaht (Thanagar-29) home to the abandoned Bizarro Manhawk (Hawkman) and Sram (Mars-29) inhabited by Smarian Snitch ( Martian Manhunter).

Superman All-Star

Outside the mainstream of DC continuity, All-Star Superman # 7-8 shows the return of Htrae and Bizarro, where the cubic hance that lives invades Earth until Superman interferes. Manifestations of Earth's population massively attack, kill and absorb much. Duplicates have disadvantages to steroids; they can not absorb the people who use it. Superman believes that Htrae is a manifestation of the so-called 'planet-eating' entity. Superman attacks the htraE, unfortunately losing its ability due to the super-heavy gravity pull of the htraE as it retreats back to its own nature, as well as the Doppler shift that replicates the effects of red sun radiation, eroding its super powers. In this htrae revisionist, Superman discovers Bizarro's duplicate of Jor-El ("Le-Roj") and an imperfect copy of Bizarro himself (Zibarro, who is basically a helpless and rational human). Superman also finds Bizarro's version of fellow heroes, such as Bizarro Green Lantern (whose ring allows him to create whatever he thinks, which he admits he thinks about everything), Bizarro Flash (which is very slow and seems to take the whole problem to get to the point certain), Bizarro Batman (who was shot by his parents) and Bizarro Wonder Woman (who is an ugly fat woman who turned to clay). The land area of Superman resembles a ruined city. There is also a perfect duplicate of the Statue of Liberty seen in the background, though without a name. Htrae disappears back into Underverse, a newly discovered dimension, at the end of the story.

Superman Adventure

A story about Bizarro in the endless first-ever digital anthology comic book of Adventures of Superman by 2013 by Christos Gage and Eduardo Francisco ends with Bizarro being given the tools to carve an uninhabited planet for his own taste. There, he immediately meets an Amazonian woman with calcareous skin who introduces herself as Bizarra.

Television

  • The Bizarro world is depicted in several episodes of Super Friends: The Revenge of Bizarro from 1980, "Bizarowurld" from 1981, and "The Bizarro Super Powers Team" in 1985.
  • In Bizarro's World Bizarro episode, Bizarro invented the Fortress of Solitude where he interacted with Brainiac and found his "origin". Soon he created Krypton himself in the Metropolis section and used the theater as House of El. Then, Superman gave Bizarro his own world to be protected, a planet with vegetation and a green sky that showed a nearby Saturn-like planet, and several other months. Bizarro was clever enough to realize that he might be formed when he complained "I hate the planet, it's empty How can I be a protector when I have no one to protect?" However, Superman stated he thought about the problem and allowed Bizzaro to adopt one of the endangered species of the Citadel, which Bizarro exactly named "Krypto". This episode is based on the Superman comic book (volume 2) # 87. In an advanced episode, "Little Big Head Man", Bizarro has inhabited his world with mannequins he made of stone and twigs, and pretended "protect" the people. In his own "Fortress of Solitude", there is a branch mannequin of his "parents" holding a large cube-shaped stone, a rough mirror image of the Superman statue at Jor-El Fort and Lara Lor-Van holding the globe. Krypton. Mr. Mxyzptlk appears and tricks him back to Earth and attacks Superman. Bizarro eventually returns to his world with his new sidekick Mbitzptlk (who has been temporarily stripped of his power until he did a good deed at the end of the 90 days) that helped make life in Bizarro World appealing to Bizarro.
  • The Bizarro World version appeared on the episode of Teen Titans Go! "Robin Backwards". This is the home of the Bizarro Titans, led by lazy Nibor, and features Grobyc, the mostly human robot, Nevar, who always smiles in contrast to Raven, Boy Beast, the animal that can turn into a human child, and Erifrat, which is just as ugly as Starfire the beautiful one.

Movies

  • The Bizarro world appears in Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Justice League vs. Bizarro League . Here, Bizarro is sent to Bizarro World by Superman to keep him out of trouble. When Darkseid attacked the planet, Bizarro stole the multiplication ray from Lex Luthor and fired it in Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (Guy Gardner), and Cyborg, creating Batzarro, Bizarra, Greezarro, and Cyzarro. His properties also proved to affect the Wonder Woman (who became helpless and constantly stumbling), Guy Garnder's power ring (restricting him to just making chickens), and Cyborg (messy).

Video games

  • The Bizarro world appears in Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham . It is featured as a DLC map where the Bizarro Justice League must defend the Bizarro World from Darkseid's forces.

In popular culture

The concept of "Bizarro" has been embedded in a popular culture in which it means a bizarre mutated version of anything, not limited to characters in DC Comics publications and thus, so does the concept of Bizarro World.

Saturday Night Live

"The Bizarro World" is the subject of the sketches that aired during the second episode of season 7 of Saturday Night Live .

Seinfeld

The concept of "Bizarro World" is a fundamental element in "The Bizarro Jerry", the 137th episode of the American sitcom Seinfeld . In the episode, Elaine creates a new group of friends representing the inverse types of normal Seinfeld gangs. Jerry labels his colleague "Bizarro Jerry", much to Elaine's confusion. These characters are kind, considerate, curious about the world around them, and good citizens. Although Elaine was initially interested in their friendly ways, she was finally turned off by the formality and lack of the simple friendships she enjoyed with her former, selfish, and petty group. The second reason for him to leave the Bizarro group was the fact that he was, in turn, so disabled that the Bizarro group rejected him in the same way that Elaine refused his old friends. Imaginable, his Bizarro version would be polite. To this day, fans are still writing and informing the producers of all the things that can be shown in the background of Bizarro's apartment. This included the Bizarro figure on the apartment shelf, like a Superman figure sitting on a shelf in Jerry's apartment. Viewers can also see bicycle wheels hanging on the wall instead of bicycles, and images of horses, not cars. The lock on the door was on the opposite side and was actually used. In the end, one of the Bizarro groups said: "I am very happy, I want to cry" - a reference to the way Bizarro spoke.

Buffyverse

The characters of Cordelia Chase from the television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel are referencing this concept on several occasions.

  • In the Buffy Season 2 episode of "Reptile Boy", Cordelia informs Xander Harris that his acceptance into the rich and powerful fraternity will only happen "in the Bizarro World."
  • In the episode of Buffy Season 3 "The Wish", the alternative reality is caused by the expectations made by Cordelia. After knowing that the AU vampire version Xander Harris and Willow Rosenberg are partners, Cordelia exclaimed, "No way! I want us to be bizarro-land, and you're still together? I can not win!"
  • In the episode of Angel Season 5 "You're Welcome", Cordelia awakens from a coma to discover that Spike has regained her soul and Angel works for Wolfram & amp; Hart. Cordelia commented to Angel "OK, Spike is a hero, and you are CEO of Hell, Incorporated. What bizarro world did I wake up?"

Buffy Summers also refers "Bizarro World" in episode 6 of season "Gone." Following the quarrel with his girlfriend Spike, Buffy walks into the house while muttering to himself, "I do not believe this, he's kicking me in. Do I, like, fall into the backward dimension here? Is this Bizarro World?"
