Americana at Brand is a large shopping, dining, entertainment and residential complex in Glendale, California. This property is built and owned and operated by Los Angeles businessman Rick J. Caruso and his company, Caruso Affiliated. Caruso Affiliated has built and operated many other projects, including The Grove at the Farmers Market in Los Angeles. The Americana at eighty-two Brand retail stores include Barneys New York, Nordstrom, XXI Forever, and David Yurman; its restaurants include Din Tai Fung, Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina, and Katsuya; The complex consists of a hundred condos and 242 luxury apartments.
The Americana project sparked a debate in Glendale for four years. Some traders fear the "lifestyle center" of Grove styles will reduce business in stores along Brand Boulevard and in the Glendale Galleria. Some residents worry about too much construction and traffic congestion.
Both The Americana at Brand and The Grove are organized based on the city center idea - with a mix of architectural styles, building heights and materials used, and wide open spaces in each project center. Caruso Affiliates often make developments in certain environments. The architectural style of Americana reflects the industrial era, with a large elevator shaft with open steel beams, while The Grove reminiscent of Charleston in 1940, South Carolina. Each of them intends to appear to be a public space, but is privately owned and protected as such. However, the two-hectare park in the center of the complex is entirely publicly owned. Private security forces patrolling the property prevent someone from taking photos with professional equipment without permission. Americana at Brand allows dogs on property - except in the grassy area. The only restricted breed is the pit bull. Each store decides whether it allows pets.
This project was opened to the public on May 2, 2008.

Attractions
In addition to The Americana in the upscale shops, restaurants and movie cinema Brand, the outdoor mall features Waters of Americana, an WET fountain. The musical fountain, located in the central landscape garden, performs every hour of every hour, although non-music programs run between shows. A gold leaf statue, chosen by developer Rick Caruso, rises from the center of a smaller fountain pool. The statue is a replica of the statue of Donald De Lue in 1949 Spirit of American Youth in France, a warning to the Americans who fought in Normandy in World War II. The statue also serves as an icon for The Americana at Brand.
The internal transit system uses a battery-powered trolley car (built by Gomaco Trolley Company) to take visitors through the main square and around the complex. The line operates from the opening of Americana at the Merk complex, in May 2008. George F. McGinnis, a retired Disney Imagineer, designed a trolley car.
Holidays season
During the holiday shopping season, fake snow is produced regularly every night. In mid-November, a Christmas tree is shown, and lit up every night, beginning with their annual Tree Information Ceremony. The tree stays on fire every night for the rest of the holiday season. The tree reaches 100 feet or more, and is usually one of the tallest trees in Los Angeles County.
